  7. 1 3:50:13 16 Bevan Docherty Santa Cruz CA NZL 2 3:50:55 0:42 24 Lance Armstrong Austin TX USA Bevan Docherty: "I didn't really know that I could win this. It is my first half Ironman race in 12 years and I wasn't sure how to pace myself. I got my second wind in the last 4 km and was able to catch Lance." Cunningham just crossed the line in third, with Rasmus Henning following him in fourth.
  8. Lance Armstrong just finished second at Ironman 70.3 Panama - an impressive 3:50:55.
  9. Here comes Docherty! He's won Ironman 70.3 Panama in 3:50:13.
  10. Armstrong is into the stadium now, too. What a debut! Second!
  11. Docherty is now 30 seconds ahead of Lance Armstrong. He can't ease off a bit because Armstrong is not quitting at all!
  12. Hah - I forgot they had to make one more loop around the parking lot! Docherty should be coming into the stadium area any second now. This place is hopping - hands down the most people I've seen at a finish line in North or South America.
  13. Armstrong is hurting now - but third place isn't in sight, so he should be good for second here today.
  14. The gap is up to 10 seconds. We're expecting them to come into the stadium any second now. We could still have a sprint to the line.
  15. Docherty is in the lead now - he has five seconds on Lance Armstrong as he runs towards the finish chute. Armstrong isn't quitting, but he isn't able to stay with the Kiwi right now.
  16. They are at the transition area now - that's less than a km to the finish. Docherty looks like he's going to do it again - Dirk Bockel 12 years ago, Lance Armstrong today. Or is he?
  17. The gap is now down to 15 seconds. Armstrong is hanging tough, but it doesn't look like he'll be able to hold off the 35-year-old Kiwi.
  18. Docherty has Armstrong in his sights.
  19. 25 seconds. Armstrong is working hard to hold on, but Docherty is flying through the run course right now.
  20. The gap is now down to 30 seconds. Docherty is back to getting those 15 seconds every mile. Armstrong is now struggling a bit.
  21. Men's Race - Run 10 Miles 1 3:25:14 24 Lance Armstron Austin TX USA 2 3:26:13 1:00 16 Bevan Docherty Santa Cruz CA NZL 3 3:27:55 2:41 5 Richie Cunningh Boulder CO AUS 4 3:28:19 3:05 1 Chris Lieto Danville CA USA 5 3:28:26 3:12 12 Romain Guillaum Montmorot FRA 6 3:28:32 3:19 4 Rasmus Henning Tuineje DOM 7 3:29:53 4:39 9 Oscar Galindez Santos ARG 8 3:30:24 5:11 7 Jesse Thomas Springfield OR USA
  22. The gap is now down to 45 seconds. Lance Armstrong is not giving up on this - he's going for it! Bevan Docherty was a bronze medalist in Beijing, and a sliver medalist in Athens. He has never been beaten at this distance - in his one effort he caught Dirk Bockel in the last few miles of the race. He's never been beaten at this distance! Docherty made up 10 seconds in the last mile - that's not going to be enough! I get this feeling Lance Armstrong doesn't like to come second!
  23. Armstrong is now 55 seconds ahead of Docherty. Four miles to go ... 15 seconds/ mile. This could be close! Richie Cunningham has now moved to third, ahead of Lieto, who is in fourth.
