  1. i will most certainly race it again, since we were promised free entries... Its a great route and i am certain most will agree. BUT we pay a lot of money for these races AND the cost of travel on top of that and i am sure I have the right to be a little cheesed off. i could have overseen a few of the stuff if it was organized by ie. the lions club of said town of the school itself. but for an events company this is a bit amateurish. ps. also heard Adrian reversed over someone's bike... but even this still does not top a race we did in Beaufort-West where the event was advertised as 45km, at registration they apologized and told us its actually 65km.. finished the race on 105km... did not get lost. the person who rode the route to count the kms forgot about a few sections. needless to say the event never took place again
  2. who is this directed at?
  3. No marshalling by the looks of it from the photo
  4. Just need to check but route on their website versus what we rode/gpx file also differs. you might be old and grumpy but i feel exactly the same. iff it wasnt for the free entry for next year i would have told them to shove it for an RONDE... dont over hype and under deliver. ALSO.... apparently there was not "caution cycle race in progress" etc on the tar section from the wind farm??? can anybody confirm? iff this is true that is piss poor from them.
  5. Hulle het seker eers wakker geskrik toe die son opkom....
  6. There was no paramedics on site. So CSA stopped the event untill paramedics arrived
  7. Well to add to the delay. It was a blessing that the race was delayed as one of our mates had a naty fall on the tar section heading out of riebeeck. Ended up with 4 broken ribs, punctured lung and a broken " vlerkie".. So the delay for the paramedics to arrive was a blessing
  8. I must appologize for not stopping. I asked and you said 10 and i shouted i only have 12 and me and my brother went on. Got stomach cramps at about 30km mark and was shallow breathing all the way from there. It was a day id rather forget about and forcus on that free entry for next year..
  9. You were the person looking for a 10spd link???
  10. Whatsapp me. photos way to big for bikehub. 0 7 for for three 2 5 five 6 six sorry for the inconvenience
  11. 105kgs at 1.9bar front and rear. 2.25 Tufo tyres.
  12. The missus got "lost" a few weeks before our wedding (she forgot 4 lefts and you are back where you started). took out het phone to navigate even though she has the route on her garmin, and ended up going into a sandy patch at a good speed. have not received our wedding photos but I presume the scars on the arms will take quite the photoshop skills...
  13. and that section is straight into the wind as well....
  14. Those roads are maintained well. its once you venture out to Piketberg and Halfmanshoff that the funn starts. will make trip that way this afternoon and see if I can take a photo of the road surface
  15. What parts did you ride?
  16. Back in the 26" days Vredenstein used to make a Killer Bee tread. those things were ridiculous... I was freewheeling away from people I my slip coming into Hankey on Transbaviaans
  17. Quite honestly i think gravel is RSA will fade. Purely due to our district roads not being maintained. The way things are going we will need 140mm "road" bikes to tackle our tarred roads soon....
  18. Just my 2C Ride a lot of the roads of the RvR as its where i live. take into account that its planting season for the grain farmers, that means a lot of traffic on those district roads. lots of loose sand and corrugation due to trucks transporting seed and fertilizers. rode a section that the 100miler will ride after Piketberg on their way back and i can promise you a gravel bike will get bogged down. each to his own i guess. I am opting for skinnier tires on the mtb with a 36/38 chainring and hoping i will be able to match the pace aswell as glide over the not to nice surfaces. when the road permits I do believe nothing beats a gravel bike. but if the road does not permit nothing rides k@kker than a gravel bike
  19. Much like the leatherman lifetime warrenty these days. also because of people abusing the system
  20. is your pulse OX meter on? it chows battery iff its set to hourly
  21. carbon wheels..... taken all the above mentioned into account here is my 2c worth. I presume you bought a bike and looking to upgrade parts? if you are looking at wheels i would save up and build a set of ZTR rims onto hope hubs. they are serviceable at just about any bike shop( if you are racing league this is important when traveling). even when upgrading other parts, keep in mind what is within budget to maintain aswell. a normal handlebar and stem option vs these all integrated carbon ones.. etc. yes a bike makes a difference and just like you i also envy those SPONSORED BY MY DAD laaities, but the reward to whipping there asses on a bike that is YOURS is way more rewarding. some further advice. i would invest in a set of resistance bands and a balance board to train balance and the whole body, way cheaper than a gym membership and you can take it anywhere and train. have a look at NINO and kate kourtney on insta and see what they do in the gym. lots of ideas on how to train off the bike can be adopted from them. have a look at an indoor trainer and a tainerroad membership, structured training will blow your mind. look at a powermeter, there are always a good buy on marketplace, that way your outside data will match your trainer data. at the end of the day the only numbers that really matter is watts and watts/kg. I am by no means a racing snake but even i cant ride without a power meter these days. have one on my mtb and road bike and a smart trainer for the power data. iff you did a ride inside for 300w for 30mins and you are sitting behind a guy and doing 280 YOU know you are well within you capabilities. but if you sit behind him and all you have is a 180 heartbeat and the taste of blood in your lungs i will also bond in my mind long before my legs fail I think there are more beneficial areas to invest that 6000 in before you look at carbon rims. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... don't give up a team sport just yet. doesn't matter if you play E team rugby/hockey. learn the values of a team sport. learn how to win AND lose, even when it's not your fault. those life lessons will help a lot when suffering alone up a climb. i do more marathon style riding and half the time i am in a head battle in silence.
  22. Plus they have the option to send a workout to your garmin so you can do that workout outside iff you have a powermeter. Nobody wants to sit indoors when you can be outside
  23. I usually started off with zwift free roaming the routes until i got a fair fit of fitness before stopping my subscription and moving over to trainerroad. Trainerroad is miles ahead of workouts in swift and since they introduced the adaptive training its much easier. if i got onto the trainer in the past and i was not in a good mental spot a workout broke me easily from the 3rd interval. if you can spend the extra 5 dollars and you actually want to TRAIN and not just ride indoors its obsoletely worth it!!
  24. Hi guys. This morning while putting on my sunglasses my glove hooked onto something sharp on my helmet. Upon inspection it looks like the outer shell came loose from the "foam". What glue can i use to just glue the loose bit back onto the foam? From experience i know certain glues just melt styrofoam etc. Regards Ps. Helmet is a Giro Aether
  25. Just looked around their website. Safe to order? i am in CPT. The clothing seems nice but never heard of them so i am a little hesitant
