  1. What about "babys blood gives me gas" or "wookie's revenge" .... Ok, those are actually names of climbing routes but they are kind of cool in their own warped way.
  2. Those blady bird brains ... Shoot to kill!!
  3. I've driven and ridden along that road many a time, there are no blind rises and a number of sections where there is a shoulder. If indeed the guys were illegally riding two abreast in a v formation, there would still be ample room to pass safely. That is if one were driving at the legal limit. Despite the arguments back and forth between the guys, one action does not justify another. As we can see from this thread and the other, the whole thing has become a brak vry.
  4. On the MTB side the way I understand it is that the cyclosport licence allow you to ride your category in mountain bike events but something like the nationals which is UCI sanctioned, requires a full race licence. MTB doesn't have a seeding system as yet, hopefully soon.
  5. God, this has still gone nowhere. A day at the SABC was joy compared to reading this. Ples, CR how serious are you guys really about proactively working a solution? Going by your posts it certainly doesn't seem so. Both of you only seem to respond to direct and puerile attacks and drop your own tone to that. So it does seem to be opposite sides of the same coin. And guys, throwing insults and threats is not going solve anything, seriously. It may be a laugh and yes there have been some good chirps in good humour. Yet reading some of the things here makes a person wonder how safe it would be to ride in the Cradle safely in case some renegade decides to have a go in their car. We need to start looking at the way we ride, if we can't police ourselves then the policing will be enforced. Obviously by the same token this doesn't justify in any way whatsoever endangering cyclists lives by reckless driving, at all!
  6. To start with, perhaps CGC and CSA should step up to the plate here and perhaps have a proxy by cycle clubs involved.
  7. So touchy about your ale. Well at least it'll have a large target You do remember I still have about 16 guina fowl, a fleet of ducks and access to a chaos of emus?
  8. Yes thank you, it does. Did you read the comments of cyclists outraged by some of those photos? Or did you focus only those comments that fuel your blatant prejudice? You very quickly jumped all over Mark Thijis for stirring and adding fuel to the fire, but seemingly your posts are doing the same. There is little worse than a hypocrite.
  9. Tim, love your work... Sense of humour like that deserves a case of beer. Hog shall oblige. I was attacked by a hardy dar once ...!
  10. I will' date=' I enjoy the surroundings. Teak Place was an enjoyable ride today and I don't see why I should not ride in as beautiful an area as the Cradle because of the intolerant actions of stupid cylcists and irate residents. Neither of whom can see the wood for the trees, as it were. I wish you had read his full post and responded to everything else. A very valid point about our attitudes as a whole was made, therin lies a lesson for all of us perhaps? Have to agree on the source of this 'blockade info' doubt it was made lightly or pulled from thin air. There has been a fair amount of twisting from your end as well with the barbed comments made. No, that is your interpretation and that is not the case at all. And again, that last sentence is very ambiguous.
  11. Glad you're ok otherwise. Seems theses three are operating in the area as an organised group. There have been a few other incidents. One or two of which were inside Northern Farm and NF have responded by increasing security and working with Mapgogo. Do a search on the forums and you'll find all the details. The topic title is a bit misleading though if your were crossing the highway on the road and not NF itself?
  12. Also take a look at the Schwinn range, starting with the 405. The Scott is a killer deal at 20k if you can stretch ti that.
  13. Man, what a playground argument this turned into. CR raised a good point about the source of this info regarding blockading the roads, but then ples's remarks about no cyclists entering the Cradle seem to be some form of confirmation. I hope this meeting is not 'closed' and there are minutes kept for all to be able to read. It's obvious what needs to be done, - large groups of cyclists need to be more mindful/considerate of other road users and allowing them space to pass. - residents need to be more mindful/considerate when coming across riders. Actually this would apply to all road users, so the issue of blame does not lie with a particular road using group but our lack of consideration for one another as a whole. Until people can grasp that concept, this issue wont be resolved. No matter what, threatening riders and defacing the signs, sure as hell is not doing anything to help the situation. I will be riding in the Cradle this weekend and any other time. Keep the above in mind when calling for decency and respect.
  14. 100% Owen, I have a ride there tomorrow and most likely a ride at Teak on Sunday morning. And unfortunately fully prepared prepared for any incidents that could occur.
  15. Ah man, now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Yet to do those trails but have confirmed for Teak Place as well .... hmmm, indecision
  16. And for a minute I thought this was about three riders in the Cradle....
  17. Ok the riding looks damn good, but not that good to move to Bloem Jokes aside though, Bloem is probably one of the friendliest citys here, and the women are
  18. This whole thread is just going in circles.
  19. Don't talk *** man, it is what it is to different people.
  20. Hey it may well be a good opportunity for the guys if they're smart enough to sell the car and use the cash.
  21. Spot on Bruce. Further, what if one of the residents is out cycling (and there are a few) and is 'buzzed' by one of the rogue residents in their car? Ples/Trevor, you mention the overload of SAPS. It gives me no pleasure to contact, however there seems to be a clear orchestrated threat from some residents in the Cradle. Must one wait until the situation escalates and someone is injured or shot before approaching the SAPS? As has been stated, there is absolutely no justification for such aggressive behavior, in fact it does display a third world way of thinking, from whichever party!
  22. I did mention this as well to SAPS. I've been driving a black X5 now and then the last few weeks, but I swear it wasn't me. You would've heard AYOBAAA ...
  23. Cheers Andyr, but Mark, Ian and co should really be applauded here. They tried to take the inititave and were unfortunately rebuked. These current actions by certain residents seem to put that rebuke into perspective. By no means are cyclists not at fault though, I've seen some stupid things by riders there. Yet it sure as hell does not justify nearly riding someone of the road!!
  24. I've reported this topic and the threat or implied threat therof to Muldersdrift SAPS (011 957 2375), Insp van der Westhuizen and emailed to crimestopgauteng@saps.org.za Inspc van Rooyen from visible policing at Honeydew has also been informed and has made a note on this. If anyone wishes to report anything but wishes to remain anonymous they can sms crimeline 32211 www.crimeline.co.za There is also e-blockwatch. It's sad that things have to resort to this, instead of responsible adults sitting down and resolving these issues like a civilised group. But no, it comes down to kinder *** like this, what a fine example of human beings we are. FFS
