  1. Anyone else that can't stand Sean Kelly commentary?
  2. I second that Lezyne Pocket Drive hand pump. It fit's in a bottle and can get tyres pretty hard. I carry spare tube, pump and glue and patch kit in a bottle in spare bottle cage, never have to worry about a double puncture.
  3. Bora is going to get mugged
  4. looking at windguru, it looks like a very light NW wind, getting slightly stronger late morning. Light rain at times
  5. With a 30 knot SE tailwind, a decent cyclist could get to Langebaan with avg in mid 40's i reckon (I'm assuming it's a tailwind the whole way?). Wind / kite surfers can't go directly downwind (they can but slow), they'd have to zig zag downwind (so even if they were travelling at 50km/h, they would be travelling downwind quite a lot slower than that)
  6. I'd say a bicycle would win easily, assuming the cyclist was fairly strong.
  7. It's been 4 weeks since I crashed, fracturing my collar bone, scapula and 3 ribs. Doc chose not to operate. I took it easy for first couple of weeks, after which I started wearing the sling less and less. Started riding on indoor trainer somewhere between the 2 and 3 week mark (in a sling). I have decent range of motion in my shoulder (can lift arms above head...but should I be?), although any discomfort seems to be more muscular than coming from the collar bone / scapular. After the attention (or lack of) that I received from the hospital, I think I'll take my chances taking advice from peeps on the bikehub... I know I can't be lifting any kind of weight right now, but should I be doing some kind of movement exercises before the 6 week period? All info I can find is specific to either the collar bone, or the scapular but I'm just concerned about doing rehab exercises for the one that might damage the other.
  8. I'm in Tableview, let me know if you need me to go check out the bike if you somehow arrange a 'viewing'. I once had a mtb stolen from my house, which later ended up on the gumtree and I posed as a buyer and got the bike back and guy arrested.
  9. Sitting here watching with a broken collar bone, scapular and ribs...feeling Alaphilippe's pain!
  10. Thanks. Too late now! You don't actually need the head unit do you? I've plugged the trainer into the wall, not sure what it needs electricity for? is it not just the resistance of the roller on the wheel?
  11. I just borrowed this trainer... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/indoor-trainers-and-accessories/117458/tacx-cycleforce-basic-indoor-trainer but it's missing the cable that goes from the trainer to the computer. It's not a LAN cable, but a telephone cable fits in there but doesn't work. Does anyone know what cable it needs?
  12. Unless it's windy, I'm sure it'll be similar to Paarl last weekend, beta will be under 1 and near possible to improve seeding if you're sitting mid A group. Now I'm kinda hoping for wind, and not to get dropped in crosswinds.
  13. There goes the beta. This sucks big time.
  14. I was in D, did One Tonner (C-D groups combined), seeded B for next race (Langebaan challenge - A and B groups combined). After that was seeded in A, so it's definitely possible.
  15. Seriously doubt 10 is anywhere near enough to get seeded $ in CTCT. When the A group limit was still 10, you'd need an index of somewhere around 2 or less to get into $ (unless you're a pro or a junior - they get picked first even if their seeding is worse). Need to get a good finish (like a min or two max behind winner) on a hard race (high beta) to get that low of a seeding index.
  16. What index did the race give you? Flat race in perfect conditions, with top 50 or so riders within 5s of the winner, the beta isn't going to be high, which is why I didn't race. I'm assuming you want to improve on seeding to get seeded in $ for argus?
  17. Not sure you can really expect a refund or even a discount on another event. Whether the event goes ahead or not, their expenses are already outlaid, and If they're barely making money on the events in the first place and run the risk of having to refund people if the event needs to be cancelled, then I'm sure nobody will want to take on the risk and we'll have even less events soon enough. I just write it off as bad luck and move on.
  18. All carbed up and nowhere to go
  19. 55mm. Just went for a ride now to check it out. I'm gonna do it.
  20. Who's riding deep sections tomorrow? been debating that with myself all day...well, that and why can't I let myself just sleep in tomorrow.
  21. $ bunch usually do Hels in around 10mins 30s give or take. 25km/h avg.
  22. I'm dreading Sunday. Last half going to be spent in the gutter and dodging oncoming cars with the other dudes riding super strong after WP champs while I've just been kitesurfing and drinking beer.
  23. Can only improve on your seeding by doing the race. If you do badly, then it's just a training ride, but if you don't do that badly it could be good for your seeding as if it's windy, the beta should be a lot higher than previous years.
  24. Don't you find bikehub more quiet in general? Not sure it's coincidence but seems like it's since they redesigned it. I noticed they even removed the counter in the footer for number of users online.
