  1. From what I've been told, they first take pros and teams, then juniors and then whatever spots are left they take top seeded guys. Your index does need to be close to zero, depending on how many slots are left for us old ballies. I had an index of less than 1 about 3 years ago and didn't make it in, but for last couple of years I've had a slightly higher index but have gotten in so it seems to be a little easier than before. I'm guessing this is due to the declining interest in CTCT.
  2. Current seeding isn't bad, but I doubt low enough to get into $ (which is the hope). Stellies was cancelled and 99er, with the changed route and perfect weather, the beta wasn't high enough to get me a low enough seeding. So was hoping for one last shot with Tour De PPA
  3. Wonder if there's any chance of them using this weekend's Tour De PPA for seeding. I called CTCT yesterday to enter on a substitution and the lady said it'd only count for next year's CTCT (by which time it'll be so heavily penalised it won't even help) and that they won't do another seeding run after Tour De PPA. I'm hoping she's just assuming that, does anybody know any different?
  4. Unless it's windy, I'm sure it'll be similar to Paarl last weekend, beta will be under 1 and near possible to improve seeding if you're sitting mid A group. Now I'm kinda hoping for wind, and not to get dropped in crosswinds.
  5. There goes the beta. This sucks big time.
  6. I was in D, did One Tonner (C-D groups combined), seeded B for next race (Langebaan challenge - A and B groups combined). After that was seeded in A, so it's definitely possible.
  7. Pretty sure it's just after Tour De PPA. That usually counts towards CTCT seeding.
  8. Seriously doubt 10 is anywhere near enough to get seeded $ in CTCT. When the A group limit was still 10, you'd need an index of somewhere around 2 or less to get into $ (unless you're a pro or a junior - they get picked first even if their seeding is worse). Need to get a good finish (like a min or two max behind winner) on a hard race (high beta) to get that low of a seeding index.
  9. What index did the race give you? Flat race in perfect conditions, with top 50 or so riders within 5s of the winner, the beta isn't going to be high, which is why I didn't race. I'm assuming you want to improve on seeding to get seeded in $ for argus?
  10. Not sure you can really expect a refund or even a discount on another event. Whether the event goes ahead or not, their expenses are already outlaid, and If they're barely making money on the events in the first place and run the risk of having to refund people if the event needs to be cancelled, then I'm sure nobody will want to take on the risk and we'll have even less events soon enough. I just write it off as bad luck and move on.
  11. All carbed up and nowhere to go
  12. 55mm. Just went for a ride now to check it out. I'm gonna do it.
  13. Who's riding deep sections tomorrow? been debating that with myself all day...well, that and why can't I let myself just sleep in tomorrow.
  14. $ bunch usually do Hels in around 10mins 30s give or take. 25km/h avg.
  15. I'm dreading Sunday. Last half going to be spent in the gutter and dodging oncoming cars with the other dudes riding super strong after WP champs while I've just been kitesurfing and drinking beer.
  16. Can only improve on your seeding by doing the race. If you do badly, then it's just a training ride, but if you don't do that badly it could be good for your seeding as if it's windy, the beta should be a lot higher than previous years.
  17. Don't you find bikehub more quiet in general? Not sure it's coincidence but seems like it's since they redesigned it. I noticed they even removed the counter in the footer for number of users online.
  18. Ja, but this is where the muscle starts, to the right of the shin bone of the left leg.
  19. So, I decided to go running yesterday and as with everything, I had to go full gas. Mid run I got a sharp pain in the inside of my left calf muscle, which forced me to stop. From what google tells me, sounds like shin splints. At the moment I can't put much pressure on my toes (either pointing toes up or down). I cycled into work this morning, initially not being able to push down at all with left leg but then once it warmed up could spin easy gear with no pain. Can't really walk properly at the moment. Not too worried about running, but anyone know how long it might take before can cycle normally again?
  20. Perhaps just my personal preference, but I think it'd be cool if the search section (BUY, SELL, CONNECT) was collapsible. It's not something I use often but takes big percentage of vertical real estate (I seldom have browser fully maximised)
  21. Me too. And I already know all the stories
  22. I just tell myself while I'm riding into the headwind..."Don't moan. It's gonna be an even stronger tailwind at 5pm" I hit 74km/h along the beach road on way home from work last week between Blouberg circle and big bay. Chasing the sand down the road.
  23. I think Hartlief must have towed a few of teams to a PB. Jack is a monster.
  24. Except for the roadworks section, I think it's perfect as it is. The neutral zones add to the vibe of the whole event, as does the faster teams starting last. Overtaking teams does slow you down a little, but it's not that bad and adds to the gees. Imagine the lonely day out if you're the slowest team and you start last.
