  1. What is she was mugged while her vehicle was immobile? Will those cyclists "do the right thing" again and go claim responibility... I think not. therefore, it still remains. That we are the minority and we need to show respect first to earn it unfortunatly.
  2. Back feeding the Troll.... I appologise for starting some vague conjecture on my side... It seems that my point has been completely missed. Enjoy the traffic.
  3. For people who are not in know... Thanks Williehond Over and out...Loon2008-10-20 04:44:55
  4. Very sorry for not posting 1 ref for the fuel levy charged on fuel... Please find the following as your referance... http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=503 http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=503#Act56of1996RoadAccidentFundAct.doc Do you pay levy to the government for road use on your bicycle. KonaFan... pedestrians have designated pedestrian crossing... Need I say more But let me quote you, " It is always amazing how the rules only apply to other people. AND the guys who know the least seem to say the most."Loon2008-10-20 04:37:59
  5. Show me where your bicycle falls into any of those catagories? And... http://www.transport.gov.za/library/legislation/road%20traffic%20act.txt taxes... do you use fuel in your bicycle... If not... then I guess that vehicles that do have the right to the road as they are in effectivly paying for it...
  6. i have pics of my first attemp...
  7. hmmm <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> But taxi's are a law un to themselves... Yet... I must add. That they are more courteous to cyclists than most other cars Bateleur1... Non taken. But maybe you should have a read up on where your taxes go and for what they are used... Also have a look-see in the traffic regulations, and educate your opinion on road usage. There unfortunately does not include bi-cycles... EXCEPT in a designated cycle path or lane... The similar concept applies to no riding on hiking trails...
  8. http://vscan.cybersmart.co.za/pipermail/warthogs/2007-April/024232.html but bikehut does not have the On-one Doofer tensioner anymore. But it went for R150. And then like HR says. A old cassette and spacers does the trick Loon2008-10-20 02:50:20
  9. pitty. as every other possible positive advantage to SA as a whole
  10. I think our National Road Agency should look into the European way of seeing things in this respect. The rest of our government departments always want to be just like over overseas rulings... <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Just wish that the way the advanced counties see things, (horse before machine concept) and adopt them too. But yes, I am not very tolerant with road users that retaliate on a kind gesture with uncalled for arrogance. Be it Car, truck, bike, cycle or pedestrian.
  11. Im sorry zeepee. But if you have met me you will have a different opinion.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It had nothing to do with me being late for a ride. It is principal I am getting at. But I am glad that you read with blinkers on and single out a sentence. Hope you were not the birdie flipping dude I encountered... And unfortunately you do not have right to the road. Until you pay and license your bicycle as a road categorized vehicle that conforms to basic road and traffic regulations... (lights, indicators, brake lights and number/identification plate). It is not your entitlement to the usage of the roads. But maybe I am wrong and you have all of then at minimum Loon2008-10-20 01:57:41

    Garmin Fundies

then a second Q on Spikes... Is there a way of getting an IP/MAC address from a Garmin unit to ping for connectivity. Cause the RS232 converter cable is picked up on USB, but the Garmin unit is not. So how can you confirm connection is established?
  13. That does happen. and is effective in riding 2 abreast. But more than that. By the time the car has been spotted and they rider at the back has called, the car is rights behind then. But more than that next to one another, you cant all just sprint or fall back to form a single file in time...<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Just think how nice it would be if when had designated road lanes like some of the more cycling orientated countries...
  14. Cool. Thanks HR.
  15. Thus I said "many". But let me add that this is more the issue in built up areas. as there is very little space for vehicles to overtake. But once again they should not have to overtake 3/4 cyclists riding abreast. Come on guys. It is in the best interest of the rider not to ride like that in these areas. Esp not in silly season.
  16. Have mailed John Robbie to ask if they have a podcast or sound snippet that they can send so we can hear and post.
  17. unfortunately, and I more than likely will get flamed, but... This is many road bike riders issue. I see it too often, and it grinds me when it is just assumed that the whole road is theirs. Had an incident yesterday like this. Was stuck behind 4 riding next to each other, until I just could not tolerate it any longer and hooted polity. So, the one decides to turn and give me the bird. So, I pull up next to them when the road was clear, and said to them that that attitude is going to get them bumped. So the prick tells me to f*ck off. And then seeing that I have MTB,s on the back, proceeds to tell me that I have less right to the road than them because I am a MTB'er... WOW, I nearly bumped them just to try and clean up the gene pool... Sorry roadies... But you guys don't have any right to roads in SA. Don?t assume you do. Vehicles are bigger and harder than you, and unfortunately the cyclist will come off second best. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Flame as much as you like... and then go buy an MTB
  18. Recipe for latex sealing concoction. 500ml of carpet layer?s liquid latex. ? Get some from a professional carpet layer or buy a 5l can from a carpet supplier. 100 ml of Scrubb?s Ammonia from Pick ?n Pay?s cleaning materials aisle or, 100ml of car windscreen wash solution. A few teaspoons of fine, fibrous material ? fine sawdust, pencil eraser crumbs, finely-chopped Hessian rope or similar. Paper mush does not work, it forms a lump. http://www.yellowsaddle.co.za/Docs/docs%20html/Homebrew%20MTB%20Tubeless%20conversion.html

    BB Servicing

The issue when I pulled mine appart was that there were no bearings in the same dimentions. No one could help me... Until earlier this week I was looking on TokenProducts seb site and found the EXACT replacement bearings. Aslo asked tokenfreak what a new Token ISIS bb would cost... And at R378... There is not much of a choice but just to by one and be able to replace the bearings later if they give issues.
