  3. I was out at 4 and the mist was heavy - I have a moerse 700lumens light mounted on the helmet, needles to say I could not see much with the light bouncing off the mist. At one point I saw a bicycle light flickering in front of me, it was David Garret, I passed him and continued up the hill, the hill makes a split and I have to go right but I did not even see the split and only realized it a few meters on so had to back track. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The painted lines are also soooo freaking slippery when wet, almost lost it around one corner. About 30mins further into my ride I saw David again, he must've gotten lost in the mist:-P
  4. Yes, they got it back. Not sure what the story is, I think it ties in with a guy working at a bike shop that had a cr@p load of bikes at his home and selling the parts and possibly fixing bikes in his spare time. There was a 15page thing about it on the hub a while ago.

  16. This sounds a pit safer:-D Lasek http://www.cape-eye.co.za/live/templates/yt_firefly/images/pdf_button.png http://www.cape-eye.co.za/live/templates/yt_firefly/images/printButton.png Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis (LASEK) LASEK (laser epithelial keratomileusis) is a relatively new procedure that is technically a variation of PRK. LASEK is used mostly for people with corneas that are too thin or too flat for LASIK. It was developed to reduce the chance of complications that occur when the flap is created. LASEK is marginally safer than LASIK, as the need for a microkeratome is eliminated, so there is no risk of flap complications. High levels of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are treated by removing tissue within the cornea. Treatment of nearsightedness: the steep cornea is made flatter by removing tissue from the center of the cornea. This moves the point of focus from in front of the retina to directly on the retina. Treatment of farsightedness: the flat cornea is made steeper by removing tissue outside of the central optical zone of the cornea. This moves the point of focus from behind the retina to directly on the retina Treatment of astigmatism: the cornea is made more spherical -- like a soccer ball instead of a rugby ball. This eliminates multiple focusing points within the eye and creates one point of focus on the retina. Astigmatism can be treated at the same time as nearsightedness and farsightedness.
  17. Link to a Place in Cape Town that does it, the Cape Eye Hospital: http://www.cape-eye.co.za/live/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=62&Itemid=214 Marius2009-06-10 07:05:11
  18. I found this link with all the Cons: http://www.lasikcomplications.com/TopTenReasons.htm It also ends of saying it's better to stick with Contact lenses of Glasses. But I hate wearing Glasses while cyling cuz they just get dirty or fog up and then I have to take them off esp when Mtb'ing, Road racing is fine.
  19. I emailed then Re: the cost and they said they need to know what my Refraction was, so I need to find that out first. - AuctionL, I read that 20% of Lasik patiants compain about Dry eyes after the op.. LASIK causes dry eye Dry eye is the most common complication of LASIK. Corneal nerves that are responsible for tear production are severed when the flap is cut. Medical studies have shown that these severed nerves never return to normal densities and patterns. Symptoms of dry eye include pain, burning, foreign body sensation, and eyelid sticking to the eyeball. The FDA website warns that LASIK-induced dry eye may be permanent. Approximately 20% of patients in FDA clinical trials experienced "worse" or "significantly worse" dry eyes at six months after LASIK.(1) 20% is pretty high???
  20. Sweet, so it's pretty straight ffrd, but..what if something goes wrong??
  21. Hi Guys, I'm thinking of have my Farsightedness fixed by having Lazered. I know a few ppl that had it done but I just want to make sure it's safe?! ANyone here with some experiance with Lasik? thx This procedure uses a laser to change the curvature of the cornea (outer window of the eye). LASIK (laser in-situ keratomileusis) has become the procedure of choice for most patients due to speedy recovery and fewer side effects. Most LASIK patients notice a significant improvement in their vision soon after surgery. LASIK removes tissue within the cornea to treat low to high levels of near sightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism.
