  1. I give up with the PPA seedings. Have not done any races since the Agus, but Road seeding went up after the Argus, and has now come down. Also done no MTB races, but MTB seeding has gone up! If seeding is going to change every month they are going to make a fortune out of selling new numbers!!!!!!!!
  2. Bump Any bright ideas on my chain experience. Have now bought a SRam chain and fitted it Sunday, works perfectly, no "skipping" on any of the gears.
  3. Had an interesting issue with a chain a few weeks ago on the road bike, 9 speed. Had a new 9 speed chain that had been lying around for about two years, bought on a special, and decided to fit it although the old chain ws not really that worn. (Yes, I was bored!) Fitted the chain and went off the Saturday for the club ride only to find a severe case of chain slip. First suspected a sticky link, no sticky link. Finally found that the slip was only occuring on one cog the 14 tooth. Swopped this out for a new 14 tooth, same problem! Tried a 13 tooth, same problem! Laid the old and new chains side by side, and found that the new chain had a completely different pitch, this was over a section of about four links. Put the old chain back, problem solved. Anybody ever had a similar experience? Is there a difference in pitch between say an eight speed chain vs a nine speed? Don't think so, since the tooth spacing on the gears is identical?? (Thought that maybe it was a packing/labelling problem) Shimano chain by the way.
  4. You will have to collect at the foreign parcels counter of the post office. You have to produce ID and invoice plus proof of payment. Duties payable in cash only!!
  5. I have been using Sports Tracker, and decided to purchase the bluetooth belt from them, cost Euro 63.00. Delivery from Finland took about 10 days. SA Customs then nailed me for a further R90.00 import duty. Works well, and very accurate compared to a normal heart rate monitor, data storage on the Sporttracker site is excellent, and can be imported into Google Earth as well. Only disadvantage is you must have a Nokia with GPS, and battery life is not too great on the 6210 Navigator that I have it only lasts about three hours!! Due for an upgrade in March, will have to look for longer battery life.
  6. Also agree with BigH, navigation on this new site is painful. Also miss the "hover"function. No way to pick a time period to look at all posts i.e. Last "x" hrs, yesterday and so on. Also now spending less time on the Hub
  7. Having no problems with Firefox 3.6 or IE8, A vast improvement in speed. The only thing I miss about the old Hub was the ability to ask for a time period, and quickly scroll through all the topics. Is this facility still available Admin??
  8. This years photos were the worst I've ever seen, looked like a bunch of amateurs with cheap cameras. I will definitely be sending them back if they arrive.
  9. Thanks for the response Admin, I generally only get time to look at the Hub at about 1900hrs in the evening, don't know if that is a high load time, but glad to hear that you will be improving matters. Been finding it rather frustrating.
  10. I'm with Windbreaker on this one, also think it's a server issue. Know about the cable problem, but don't have this problem on any other sites except the Hub. Only started after the changeover of servers. ADMIN - any comments????
  11. Why is it that pages load so slowly lately? This seems to have started since the change to the new server. Normally use Firefox, but tried Explorer 8 as well, still just as bad.
  12. Two years!!!!!!!!!!! Is that the price of a life? 10 yrs suspended licence is even more useless, what's the bet he will be back on the road after his service.
  13. Where in the Northern Suburbs? I recommend City Cycling Club, who ride from Edgemead, great bunch and cater for the beginner. Website: http://www.citycyclingclub.org/ joevan2010-03-03 12:54:29
  14. You don't say what area you are in, but I would recommend you try a genuine bike dealer. This time of the year plenty bargains around as they try to clear stock. You will get better back up service, and if you get in to cycling seriously it pays to get a relationship going with a good LBS

Note only experienced riders should attempt the long (42 Km) ride as it includes "challenging and technical climbs and descents" . 19. Many, many years ago, I applied for a job as a production manager at a factory which produced brake pads. On the trip around the factory, I noticed that at the end of the line, some pads were being packed in white boxes, while some were being dumped into large bins. When I asked if the pads being dumped into the bins were rejects, I was told no, these are going to a motor manufacturer (No names) for new cars, and the ones in boxes were going to spare parts dealers. Same production run!! Go figure!!!!joevan2009-06-01 09:09:27
  20. Does this make sense? Oil will cause dust to stick, and form a nice grinding paste for the seals in my opinion. I normally spray my stanchions with Mr Min, at least the dirt does not stick to it.
  21. I think the problem is that half of these Metro cops, don't have a clue what the law they are supposed to be enforcing is. They pick soft targets like lights on in the day, or obscured licence plates to justify thier existance. But when there are idiots screaming around the suburbs at midnight tryingf to see who'se got the fastest car/motorbike, or taxis ignoring the road laws, you don't see too much of them.
  22. So much for this Mag (Rag?) My reply to thier reminder to renew subs: Unfortunately the standard and content of this publication, particularly the last few issues has dropped to a point where I no longer wish to renew this subscription. Thier reply: We have noted that you will not be renewing your subscription upon expiry with the October 2009 issue. Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to email us or contact us on 0860 00 7827/SUBS. Don't seem to care do they??
  23. Re-Branding=Phase out old chips eventually=more money for them = another rip-off!! Sound like drivers licences, every few years they need to "upgrade" the system, and we all have to replace our licences!
  24. The Email I got said it has been re-branded as Racetec????????????
