  1. I know I know, but unless you only do shuttle days, you still have to pedal to the top
  2. 26er or 29er? Will be interesting to hear how the Reign compares to it, on the way up. I think it will feel better, regardless of which one you had.... The Maestro system really deserves all the Kudos it gets. I never even lock it. Trail on the way up and descend on the way down.
  3. Very good. You will enjoy that beast. It's little brother has really taken my riding to the next level. Can't wait to read your thoughts, after your first few rides. As a matter of interest (if you don't mind sharing)... What did you have before?
  4. Nice! This is the Reign 2, I presume. Very interested to hear official pricing...
  5. N1 out the city. Stay left and turn left onto the N7 north. Take the Vissershok turn to the right. Meerendal is on this road, to the left, just after the big hill.
  6. When is the next Enduro event here around CPT? Dirtopia in November?
  7. There are also a few DH boys that will not do too bad on the way up.
  8. Cyclefunatic quoted me that on the 2014, a few months back. It was a winter special. Not sure if they will still do it at that price. As you might have seen, I got the Trance in the end and I'm very happy with it.
  9. Anyway, back on topic. Just got myself this bike. Hoping to start doing some enduro races soon! Currently the dropper is running externally up the seat tube. Will hopefully have this sorted by the weekend.
  10. If you say so, but... http://www.lapierre-bikes.co.uk/2015/bikes-mtb-enduro/spicy-527 http://www.lapierre-bikes.co.uk/2015/bikes-mtb-all-mountain-trail/zesty-am-527 http://www.lapierrebikes.es/2015/spicy-527 http://www.lapierrebikes.es/2015/bicicletas-btt-all-mountain/zesty-am-527
  11. Those come from the Lapierre website... Also, not starting a debate at all. I'm just relaying what I see on their website, after reading the initial discussion here. I think the difference will not be that noticeable anyway. It's only 5mm on CS and 0.3 degrees difference on the HA.
  12. This is what I see on the Lapierre website. Chain stays are longer on the one, but the seat stays and the front triangle stays the same. A longer chain stay will pull the seat stay further back and this will in turn pull the whole front triangle slightly upward. This will then make it a better fit for the longer travel fork. Not right?
  13. Top tube and the rest of the front triangle looks the same on their website. Chain stays are different. Makes sense... Longer chain stays will pull the front of the front triangle up to increase the head angle, to accommodate a longer fork and increase travel, I think.

  15. Wonder if Greg, Steve and Josh will be racing it this weekend.
  16. I would rather have this... http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11239479/p4pb11239479.jpg
  17. Not much of a change in spec... Doubt they will drop the price.
  18. Okay... So I asked this question in the Giant Trance thread (derailed it slightly), but the guys there might be biased I sold my bike this week and now I'm looking for a new trail bike, for under R25k... The Trance has been on my mind for some months and I know it is exceptional value, but now I have found I can get the Stumpy for about the same price. I mostly ride the Tygerberg trails (Conties, Hoogekraal, new Bloemendal trails and also Welvanpas) and I want a fun bike that can handle some pops, drops and rocks, but climb steep jeep track very well too. I'm not really doing any races. Hoping to get some more honest opinions from people who have spent time on either (or both) of these bikes. I am busy trying to arrange to test both, as I know this is the only way to make my final decision. Difficult choice, I tell you.
  19. Was looking at the Silverback Reno for R3500, with similar components as the Avalanche. I then decided to stretch the budget and save some more to get a Merida TFS-100 for R4650, but changed my mind again to get the Scott Aspect 30 for R5300 (I've now heard of a special @ R4700)... I think you will be a lot happier with something around the R5K price range, especially if you are thinking of doing some light racing. I wish I could spend even more...
  20. The Aspect 30 definitely has a slight edge on the TFS 100... So, at that price, it is a no brainer. Will call them later, to see if they still have stock available at that price. The fork, frame and derailleurs are better on the Scott (I think). To me it looks the nicest too. I've looked at the Silverbacks and basically everything else, but I think the Scott is the bike I want. As I'm in Cape Town, I'll rather deal with local guys. Thanks for the replies!
  21. Hi guys. This is my first post here. I'm really amped to start doing some riding soon... I've been shopping around for a couple of weeks now. I want to spend less than 5k on the bike. Think I've got it down to these: Merida Matts TFS 100 GT Avalanche 3.0 Scott Aspect 30 (stretching the budget a little) The one salesman reckons that it is definitely worth stretching the budget for the Scott. Does anybody here own any of these, or know enough about them to give me some advice?
