  5. Vat is calculated at Cost of goods + 10% =R ? x14% = Vat Eg R1000 + 10% =R1100 x14% = R154.00 Shoes fall under 6403.19/9 30% Duty
  6. Looks like you only paid vat on your goods
  7. Clothing does pay duty at 40% The code 6215.00/8 is a commodity code for customs, tells them what the article is. The first 4 digit of the code are used world wide. For example 6101 - 61?? Knitted or crocheted clothing 6201 - 62?? not knitted or crocheted Also your knee and elbow pads go to 9506 and are duty free
  8. route varies all the time, depending on whos riding At moment there are 2 groups, a fast and a slow. Ride together then split up and meet at the circus again for coffee before riding back to rievlei

  10. To show you how useless they are 4016.99.90 is other articles of rubber (15% duty) 6109.90 is t shirts of other textile materials (30% duty) Its what your invoice says, bike parts you might get away with it. Helmut you probably not going to. Capricorn do you have individual values and ill show you how it was calculated

  12. What it boils down to is what side of the bed the guy that helps you got out of that morning. Goods under the value of R500 shouldnt require I deal with JHB, Germiston, OR Tambo, Dbn, CPt and every one of them have a different procedure. If you are going to but from CRC regularly i would suggest that you apply for a customs code no. I can point you the right direction for the forms

    Conti Tires

I run the 2.4 mount king front and 2.2 on the rear, works like a dream for me
  14. Depends on how ebay send it to you, if throught he post office and low value it would work the same as a CRC order. High value they might call for SAD500 to be passed. If airfreighted almost certainly a SAD500 would need to be passed, this also goes for courier parcels. Except the courier will charge you for passing the documents Guys you must be careful with importing second hand goods, all second hand goods in SA require import permits.
  15. Protective equipment as follows Helmuts pay 25% Duty Gloves pay 30% Duty Knee, Shin, ELbow, Chest Protectors are Free of Duty
  16. Basically the charges would all still be the same. Like they mentioned today, customs can call for a formal clearance in which case we would then do the SAD500 for you and submit to customs, customs would then release it with a SARS releae notification. You take that SARS release notification to the post office and they will just give you the goods. We would then charge you the duties and vat as we would have paid it on your behalf along with a documentation fee for doing the SAD500
  17. R1300 is about right, vat only on both items (R1232.00)
  18. A customs clearing agent does your SAD500 document for you and pays the vat and duties over to customs on your behalf. We then charge you what we have paid over along with some sort of documentation fee. EtienneB Unfortunatley your kids bicycles such as that pay 20% duty so your calculation would be R945.11x20% = R189.02 Duty R945.11x10% = R1039.62 + R189.02 = R1228.64 x14% = R172.01 Vat Total payable would be R945.11 + R327.41 + R189.02 + R172.01 = R1633.55 Caad4 Im situated in JHB If any body needs assistance contact me and ill gladly help out
  19. People can contact me aswell should you need help with customs clearances, am a clearing agent aswell
  20. Edman posted an like where it quotes EU rates of duty on clothing and shoes, he is quite correct in that there is a prefferential rate from the EU but genrally a specific endorsement on the invoice confirming manufacture in a EU country or a EUR 1 certificate of Origin need to accompany the goods to get this rate. If the goods arrive and even though you bought them from the EU and they state made in china or something on it you could be forced to pay the 40% duty instead. I find though with couriers postal orders then tend not to worry to much though but be careful.
  21. Is there a topic relating to this ? Tried a search but couldnt find anything. In brief guy was hit on klipriver, guy tried to get away and hit cyclist again. Public chased driver down and turned out to be a policeman from mondeor police station Happened 8th March ngala242009-03-18 02:14:05
  22. These are the correct formulas for SARS , its got nothing to do with a courier fee. I work a customs clearing agent
  23. Duty calculation are based on value x percentage (30% etc) Vat calculations are based on value + 10% + any duties if applicable = ? x 14%
  24. Once you go black you wont go back !
