  3. Been secretly wearing lycra and riding my road bike
  4. you should be able to lift it as high as the length of your forks steerer tube will allow without any issues. you could also try a stem with a higher rise angle. Also try dropping your seat or using a shorter stem.
  5. Looking at building or buying a cyclocross / monstercross bike. I have both a 26 mtb frame and a road frame with some 36 spoke wheels lying around could i use these? i also have some 8spd road / mtb bits incl shifters i could use. How does the geometry of a cyclocross bike differ ? are cyclocross rims different to road rims? 2nd hand 29er and add drop bars? or maybe a just an alu road bike with 700 x 35 / 40c tyres? it would need mechanical discs or cantis right? any advice would be appreciated.
  6. Can't go wrong with the space 2 - i am currently on my second silverback roadbike - and while you wont see many of them around on race day - they are fantastic value for money, ride great and the service / warranty from silverback is top notch.
  7. chinarello.
  8. so long as you stay upriver from fratellis you should be fine. i live in parkhurst and have been using the spruit for 6 odd yrs now, often riding by myself. grab some mates if you want to go towards riverclub side to be safe.
  9. I have a 2011 26" gt mtb frame with shock (old 80mm may need bushings ),headset, stem, deore triple crankset and bb , pair of wheels (they need a bit of love on the hubs) as well as a box of old cycling clothes.that i would like to donate to the project. also have some old 7spd parts incl shifters and derailleurs chris@wiredsoundstudios.co.za
  10. ive ridden a space 2.0 and a tf2 - and found they have a very similar ride quality.
  11. I'm Guessing podiums for anyone on that new 220mm Fury by the looks of Fort William's results. but would love for the Bulldog to get a good result, that guy charges so hard.
  12. Is it a constant creak when you push both drive and non drive side? just one side? Try eliminate bits where it could be coming from - Dirt in the bb seals ,loose chainring bolts and skewers maybe?
  13. what gearing are you running there? im looking at refurbishing an old roadbike to SS.
  14. That is the f*&kin boss!
  15. Havent used it long enough to find out - battled with that stuff for nearly a week trying to get a conti x king to seal. no love- got fed up and went and bought the more expensive stans - boom- sorted.
  16. ive had my DMR tensioner on 3 SS builds now and it works perfectly fine with a cheap n strong 7/8 spd chain and the normal 32T chainrings that come with your crankset of choice.
  17. Silverback make great value for money roadbikes - look at one of the space models. very capable race bikes.
  18. http://reviews.mtbr.com/the-angry-singlespeeder-–-be-happy-with-what-you-have
  19. The bike just feel so much more a part of you when you work on them. Knowing you chose well researched components / parts and tweaking the ride as you swop bits and pieces really makes the ride that much more awesome. im hooked for sure.
  20. Looking at a Sektor or Revelation 150/120mm. Unfortunately after this new frame and crankset, the bike funds are seriously depleted for a bit
  21. havent weighed it yet, but im guessing around 12kg. lighter than my previous alu SS build (GT avalanche frame)
  22. Latest SS project Complete Steel Cotic BFE Rockshox Tora Coil 120mm w Nukeproof Warhead headset and 2013 SLX Crankset. More beers, less gears!
  23. if you clean the inside first, they will seal up with a healthy dose of stans (there should be enough inside that you can hear it sloshing around). bounce it on floor and make sure the stans splashes all over. But that i figured out after 3 days - they are a bitch to seal.
  24. Went to go check out the hurlingham line as well as the scout hall jumps this morning. Thats some next level X -Games **** okes! Would dig to tag along and get some pointers on how to ride / survive stuff like that,i m guessing a combo of prayer, speed and a healthy dose of HTFU But ja, rad to see there are people riding the spruit who arent just interested in strava segments and how fast they can average. Theres hope for JHB Mtn biking yet!
