  1. Having just had a quick glance over the posts so far I don't see a mention of the type of antenna that the various models have. Looking at the pictures above and the descriptions of the routes cycled it seems that the signal is degraded under tree cover or in urban areas which is common with patch antennas. The cycle and running oriented models have a "patch" antenna but the fancier and bigger models used for hiking navigation have a "quad helix" which is believed to be more accurate under cover. Also as cycling and running GPS’ need to be quite small they normally have the smallest possible antenna required to function adequately. I have a Garmin GPSMAP 62s and it is extremely accurate for the rides Ive used it on. Messing around with the waypoint averaging ive got spot accuracies of about 30cm.
  2. I want to do some work on the place below. Coming back from Delta its a really cool fast section and you can motor. There is quite a launch but it needs a landing or you get lots of air and then a flat landing. There are two mounds of earth. The second is where my bike is in 2nd pic. It foesnt look much in photos but is quite substantial. We need to move mound 2 and fill it against the launch or some form of double. Proposing weekend of 5/6July. Would need picks shovels and barrows
  3. Available Sat morn or Sun afternoon. Just let me know. Happy to chip in some cash for materials if needed.
  4. There was a good discussion of this a few weeks back on www.sportscientists.com. Nature vs Nurture and what is talent. Go check it out
  5. Rio is easy Favelas!!! Look at what redbull have done with their urban downhills. Imagine how many people would line that course! It would be epic. There are several sports that have out of town venues i.e rowing and sailing are often 30-80km away if the venue is right. I know rowing in Barcelona was 80km away and in Beijing 50km. Even London was 25km away from main village. Enough time in traffic that they set up a separate mini village for rowing/canoing/kayaking
  6. Yebo. My wrist is now healed so im back in the saddle.
  7. Dude that's hectic. My boet did almost identical when he was about 10. Also lost a few cm of bone. Docs put a separator plate in to hold the bones apart. When they took them out my dad used the one for a key ring. Still got it!! Heal fast!!
  8. Just ride the spruit and take the alternative options available Between Tana Rd and Rustenburg Rd there are few small gaps/doubles Cross the river behind Old parks and ride the line there also some smaller gaps/doubles Scouthall jump line is a good place for some imtermediate gaps
  9. Whereabouts in Tzaneen. Know the area quite well.
  10. Yeah. I hope that my grandkids can still see something like that one day
  11. Either you have a VERY big lens or you need to leave in a hurry!!
  12. This is the profile from my GPSMAP62
  13. I did the pass and then across the plateau and up black mountain pass. 3450m. Went from Sani backpackers and back. About 6hrs riding total about 85km if I recall. Took my time and enjoyed the views. Had quite long stops at the hotel at the top of sani and at top of black mountain so was about 8hrs all in.
