  1. Hi Everyone Looking for ideas how to fix this One plastic piece on the side broke off It clips in.but very loose so I jam it with something It's a bryton 530 Thanks
  2. Thanks World champs haha It will be my 25th so I think it's time to enjoy the atmosphere and day on my mtb 😉
  3. Thanks May have been more involved but 4 of us got into the ambulance It happened at around 45-46km ph so no time to react Just disappointing when your race ends like this, no control over what happened. All the plans for Feb are cancelled now
  4. So my 99er experience was shortlived Started in E having not doing many races other than CTCT and regular Killarney. High speed crash at 36km on the R304. Could see the accident about to happen as someone came across my front wheel. The rest I don't remember 4 of us in the ambulance taken to durbanville medi clinic. 2 fractured collarbone, and hip with bad road rash . I came of the lightest nothing broken but bad bruising. The response time of the ambulance was pretty quick 3 -4min Our bikes were tagged and taken back to the start where a friend collected WELL DONEcl to the organisers for the quick response to an accident. Time to recover now and heal, road rash not pleasant at all. My first big accident after many years of cycling. Cracked frame and damage but thankful it wasn't worse. Why we cycle

  6. Absolutely agree that's why I've been having a tough time thinking about the possibility of not starting my 21st consecutive one. Been sick whole week since Mtb Challenge It's easier said than done when everyone tells you, don't ride, be grateful that you were healthy for the other cycle tours. It would be a bitter pill to swallow so hopefully I recover a little more just to participate and finish . Time is the last thing on my mind. Ok it's off my chest now
  7. There is a second video that surfaced today from Fadiel addressing Jp Smith and COCT, threatening a definite shut down of the tour. Have posted info on the CTCT website
  8. Anyone know if numbers can be collected the morning before the race. According to website and FB, ASG Paarl and CWC on Saturday Question was asked twice on FB page, no response other than what's on website
  9. Agree 100%, I did the event in 2016, all those passes were in, Bains Kloof, Du Toits both sides, Franshoek pass was amazing. Im happy pay the entry fee for a similar route not 4-5 sportive routes. Day 3 was the hilltop finish on du toits.
  10. Wow this is mtb'ing at its finest. The trails are awesome and views spectacular. Route well marked and waterpoints fully stocked well marshaled. Heat was a killer today on the long route, 38 deg Pity I didn't put in enough training, there are no free km in the race. Tough but rewarding day on the mtb.
  11. Live FB update from organizers @2pm Race is officially going ahead, no mention of canceling They prepared for the wind
  12. Absolutely agree, awesome day out on the trails Weather played along and the light drizzle welcomed
  13. 1A no wind Definitely a sub 3 if u stick with them
  14. 1E Stopped being a ppa member in 2015 and slowly starting accumulating penalty points every year from not doing road events. 2D start last year on my DS. Started one tonner 2018 109km in L, then SCT in 2A, rode 2:48 which equates to a D ppa seeding. Could have been a group or 2 better if I did more races. 1E seems about right.
  15. ATTENTION ALL RIDERS! Please note that seedings will be communicated to all Cape Town Cycle Tour entrants by latest next week Wednesday, 13 February.
  16. It's disingenuous to advertise specific races as official seeding events (99er being one) but you get penalized if event older than 5 months come the following year. It's obvious they use current events. Just be upfront about it.
  17. Any idea when seeding will be released?
  18. Just out of curiosity When did everyone press start on their computers. If I recall, the announcer said first section on paving neutral zone, once you turn left race starts. There was only one mat at the start. Seems like most guys on strava got around 99.5-99.7km, pressing start at the mat.
  19. The problem is having so many cars coming in via 1 entrance, that's the biggest stuff up. The actual venue not bad. If they can sort out the parking and entrance points then it will solve the problem. I started in 2A and yes we were a big group when we caught 1D but then again groups are way bigger in CTCT. Not having full road closure will always be challenging with the numbers especially when groups merge. Not easy to fix, smaller groups, bigger gap between start groups, better marshaling?
  20. I did this race last year, starts with mostly jeep track the first +-20km, Once you hit the second half and welvanpas ST, AWESOME is all I can say ????
  21. My experience First time out @Eselfontein farm Awesome and well organized race. Camping and ablution facilities always kept clean. Trails are amazing, from the night ride till day 3 This is ST heaven 75-80% per day. It has a bit of everything, steep climbs/ descents, rugged and rocky ST, stunning views and excellent waterpoints A challenging ride but well worth it. Thank u Esel Can definitely recommend this
  22. I did the 42km in 2011, way more ST than yesterday. Persuaded my buddies to ride raving about the awesome ST Route yesterday was basically some steep climbs 15-20% gradients ,steep descents and jeep track. I probably expected more having done Origin of trails and a few other races in Stellies. Doubt I'll be back if route remains the same next year. Not sure if trail tag allows you to drop down a group Suppose to start @ 9:50, dropped to L (10am start) but time was taken from 9:50
  23. According to their FB page Yes
  24. Last night before killarney session started, Steve spoke about the incident and confirmed no bellville club riders were involved. Someone wore the kit
  25. Hi I would be interested to hear some opinions on this. Like everyone else I received my argus start time on the 11 Feb. I clicked on his icon ' Please go to http://seeding.cycle.../findme.aspx?ss to see what events they used for my seeding. To my surprise they used the 2014 99er time and my 2013 Argus time, the only 2 seeding events I had, since I chose not to renew my ppa memebership after being a member for many years. I was under the impression 2013 99er is an official seeding event for 2014 argus tour. Also on the list was 2013 Argus Tour and some other races across the country. It seems pointless doing a seeding event if the gap between argus tour and the official seeding event is more than 6 months ,otherwise you will incur a penalty. Did anyone check their seeding and notice something similar.
