  1. Kevin @ BMC is your man Very happy with their attention to detail and sorting out really technical issues.
  2. Photographer injured during protest 55 minutes ago A Media24 photographer has been briefly hospitalised after being injured during protest action in Ashton in the Western Cape. Zille calls for SANDF to curb protests De Doorns calm - police Villiersdorp matrics write despite protests
  3. I know that feeling buddy try and post a pic of the bike Hope you find it
  4. How do you explain this drop, other than heat and a slight wind conditions were fairly good yesterday.
  5. Well done Zac, great that you could stay with the leading tandems till Visserhoek. My nightmare race Started in $, got dropped at 26km. Managed to see Zac, two of us worked together on the R304 for about 6kms. Along the way we picked up another 1-2 guys. On the R312 about 4km before the R44 turnoff the leading tandems caught us. We latched on and rode with them till the Van Schoorsdrift turnoff. 2 km after that I just bonked and it was a solo ride to the finish. I could not even latch onto a single group or person. that passed me. Legs were knackered going up Vissershoek and oodendal, 6-7km p/h. Finished in a disasterous time of 3:44. Its amazing the amount of time you lose once you bonk and ride alone, even though it was for 28kms or so. One of my hardest races
  6. And I'm $153
  7. Starting in $ as well Im sure there will be a few familiar faces, seems like A-C PPA seeded riders in $
  8. I would guess around 300m once you turn left at the robots. You got you work cut out tho, up against the regular teams with a few riders. I notice the same team always have at least 2 guys in the top 3 positions in all the league rides so far. If you man alone you have to time it to perfection. Its so much more deserving if a 1 or 2 man team get a podium, especially if you outnumbered Good luck buddy
  9. I was thinking the same like you but quickly realized I'm grateful to be in A after I saw the start times and combining of groups You just need to see what they did to our elites in the Cobra
  10. Interesting that VA starting with Elites @ 6:15, they normally have their own start group before VB So its Elites/VA/under 23 Juniors @ 6:15 Racing tandems 6:20 VB/ladies/masters @ 6:24 A @ 6:27
  11. In 2009 I qualified to ride VA (licenced group). The cycletour sent an email informing me to pay R75 for a licence to ride VA. If I chose not to pay I would be moved to A. I obviously paid to get dropped after smits This changed in 2010 as the licence fee was included in your PPA memebership and I paid nothing. Not sure how it works this year and if elites and SV are different
  12. I called the race office today and was told seeding and start times will be mailed to everyone end of Jan beginning Feb
  13. Anybody know the winning time? Heard SV rode around 2:38
  14. I think groups may be smaller and they will combine 1 or 2 Most of my cycling buddies and people I know are riding STARS as well as a few hubbers
  15. They did the same with me, 2 older results were changed. They used the best 4 results cause the one was a shorter route Not complaining either
  16. Still thinking what group to ride, may join you in E, just checked the pedalpower website now and my reseeding was done
  17. another 1-2 races and you will move up another group. You 100% right for a break to stay away, you need a few guys that are prepared to work together, thats why I thought you did well to catch us. I enjoyed the race as well, its not always about the time, more about the experience. The wind definitely made it tougher and more interesting. Looking forward to Tour de PPA
  18. I had a blue Unior kit on. We saw you and another 2 guys in front as we left simonstown but everyone seem not too worried knowing boyes drive is ahead It is for that simple reason that I never reseed if I only move up 1 group cause the following race your old group catches and you just paid the 50 bucks unless you borderline to qualify for league
  19. Well done, a few of you from H rode well to catch the F/G group going up towards cape point. We were obviously fast asleep sucking our thumbs
  20. Awesome ride this morning A pic on top of ou kaap From the the left .... spat, tubehunter, Mtb roadie, Zac A in red and far right Zac A dad
  21. Would be interested to hear some opinions on this Recently I bought myself a Giant TCR Advanced frame. Today I went for ride here in CT and got caught in some heavy downpours on black hill and chappies. Roads were extremely wet thoughout my +-3hr ride. I was soaked when I got home. As I lifted the bike on its back wheel I could hear the water in the frame. I turned the bike around a few times to make sure I heard water. While the bike was upside down I could see water seeping out by the seatpost.I took the seatpost out completely, turned the bike upside down and at least a 1/2 cup of water came out if not more. This is the 2nd time it happended after riding in heavy rain. The Giant does have big hole at the bottom of the frame where the cables go through Is this normal? Anyway of sealing or minimizing this? I had a merida scultura before and it had 4 tiny holes at the back/botton of the chainstay. After riding in the rain I would tilt the bike on its back wheel and the water would all come out there. Can water in your frame damage it long term?
  22. I've always ridden shimano all the years. Recently I changed to Sram red. The biggest difference for me the feel of the 2 groupsets. In my opinion shimano is more smoother and refined whereas sram has a more harder and mechanical feel to it. I'm still getting to use to the double tap click system. Often I click once and the gear drops down instead of going up. I love the feel of the ceramic bearings tho Having said that I am enjoying the change and getting use to it all the time. Like Tiny K said its really a personal choice.
