  1. Kind of curious how much Clenbuterol would be in nasal spray and how much nasal spray you would have to use for clenbuterol to show up in your urine.
  2. There used to be one, but I suspect its not in place anymore....
  3. Its cute how you are under the impression that the lack of aero features (and size) of the TMTB boards is something that haven't seen hub rants before.
  4. Don't tell your wife but she was not wrong though... She is referring to the meteorological spring which does start at 1 September, you are referring to the astronomical spring which starts on the 21st 😛
  5. Yep - I commute + train on an average weekday so last 5 rides would not even cover 2 days for me...
  6. This race has been on my bucket list for years - had to decline free entries to Fedhealth and Ceder races to pay to do this one in 2023 😄
  7. I agree - the PPA seeding system is very much broken, not really so much the formula but because there are so few events available to seed people properly. Until databases are shared between different timing companies I don't see this improving
  8. Yes - I think that was the general idea. But I have found Cat 2 rides at the WP league to be generally harder than the B group at PPA races. There are a few riders in Cat 2 who I think would be comfortable mid-bunch in Cat 1 (and would have A seedings with PPA)
  9. Haha! as a Cat 2 rider I am offended 🤣. But yes, Cat 2 is generally similar to the age cat bunches for the CTCT (and maybe 1A) Cat 3 for the masters and everyone else
  10. The bike boards at the Olympics... At least we know why Saffa mamils never qualify for the olympics, we are simply incapable of dealing with that size board screwing up our aerodynamics 😜
  11. Helping out on an established event hosted by a school - as mentioned earlier the costs and the hoops one have to jump through to meet SASREA requirements are insane. Then add negotiating the Education laws (good luck trying to add a beer tent to the event 🤣) that sometimes contradict the SASREA requirements 🤦‍♂️ The event is still profitable - mostly because of dedicated parents giving their time for free and sponsors loyal to the school - but its obvious there are more efficient ways for the school to use their time & resources to raise funds. I don't see how new road funrides will be added to the WC calender given current conditions
  12. Just on a personal level, gutted that the Langebaan road race through the reserve (in flower time) was killed off after covid, very underrated event and another illustration of how hard it is to sustainably run a road event. The way I see it, backmarker/casual type riders have figured out that if you want to ride in the flowers (or any other nice route) you don't have to pay R400+ to fill up a race, you take your mtb and some friends and go and ride it whenever it suits you. I have seen it with quite a few cyclists I know, many haven't stopped cycling, they have just (mostly) stopped doing events.
  13. As others mentioned, quite a few lap & crit races hosted by WP Cycling and I think its fairly well supported. PPA always resisted the idea of doing lap races - but that makes sense when mixing funriders and racing snakes. Once you have people lapping each other it turns into chaos (see the long complaint threads whenever a long route catches up with short route riders in a PPA race). I can also see road racing mostly migrating to gravel racing over the next few years, unfortunately the way the world changed it has just become more and more difficult and impractical to host road races, I think the few big ones will survive for the foreseeable future but the growth will be in gravel biking.
  14. If they inspect the unit and see that you attempted to magyver it would that not disqualify you from the cheaper replacement?
  15. Quickly googled a few Prince George MTB (from the Attakwas organisers) 165km - R1,950 Race2Sea - 164km - R1,290 Stanford 100 Miler (2022) - R950 Ronde van Riebeeck - R590 Swartberg 100 - R1,750 One can debate the fairness of entry fees in general but I wouldnt say Gravel Monster excessive compared to other well known events?
  16. I had a thread on bikehub few years bike, my bike got stolen from my car parked at my place of employment and the SAPS actually got it back of me. Purely by luck someone at my office saw the bike being sold at the garage across the street for about R500 to a petrol attendant who just won employee of the month cash award. I had to convince the police to go visit that employee to get my bike back - long story but this only happened after a contact wo happened to know the captain of the police station intervened. But yes - in theory its possible to get your bike back. Funny there was literally video footage of the whole episode, the thief entering the offices, entering the garage, riding out on my bike and then the transaction on the petrol station forecourt.
  17. I find it interesting how most long jump and high jump records stand for decades, very few people nowadays even get in the ballpark of distances/heights achieved in the 80s and earlier. You would think with all the doping/improved training/diets etc those records would be falling, we can run faster, swim faster but cant jump higher and further than before/
  18. Very interesting story 👍
  19. Problem not so much the rain on Saturday but the state of the roads after Friday's rain
  20. Any particular reason this race HAVE to happen in July? Other than being nice prep for TB? Such a lekker event but the mud/rain always an issue
  21. Haven't done it myself but don't recall complaints from last year (organised by the CTCT organisers so should be decent) and the area is really great for gravel riding so in my mind a save bet for a lekker event
  22. I think they basically bought the results database and some guaranteed income? Racetec was using outdated technology, CTCT either had to reinvest in new technology or go into partnership with someone else Didn't realise Finishtime did the 94.7 - agree that this was a bit of shambles, slightly worrying...
  23. Its about the technology - diffferent frequencies or something technical like that - which is why the mtb boards can still be used but not the road timing chips
  24. The Racetec mtb timing boards are compatible with the FinishTime timing system, so you will still be able to use your old Racetec mtb board. However the road timing chips will be replaced
  25. Thought this might be worth a seperate thread as its not just the CTCT affected What is not directly mentioned is that the racetec timing chips are no more, we will have to purchase bike boards for events previously timed by Racetec (ie all PPA races, Double Century etc) So some extra expenses in the short term but hopefully a timing system more up to date than Racetec that was showing its age
