Why does PPA not reply to our emails? WHy should we follow up? We are assisting them and they seem to ignore us?

I agree, if you take the job and agree to the pay then do the job......otherwise it is stealing...

I used to do that, only to get hooted at and signalled to get left...anyway I like the way the debate is going now.... Now we discussed problem areas and see what solution different people have...that is better and more constructive rather than just plain name calling etc. Are you on your own when you do that? Or in a group? I assume that the bigger the group the better? BTW the other big gripe "normal" people have with us is the way we block all entrance to Vida in Camps bay road with our bicycles.....so if you want to improve the image of cyclist...lets address those issues also. Maybe it is not the Red light skipping that irritates the drives but the fact that they could not get their coffee and hence the next cyclist they see they want to scare them?

On that robot thing....I do not stop(well not dead standing still stop ) at that robot when you come towards town into Camps bay....it is a T-junction and with the traffic up ahead I find it safer to check, roll and then get in the lane....IF no cars are comming from the right....that way I can MAKE sure the car stopping at the red light has seen me and will not pust past me and "crush" me into the cars on the left.... Now you can not tell me that it is safer to stop at THAT red light...I have tried it and every time the car on the my right does not seem to see me or ignore me on purpose.....My way feels safer. And I DO NOT endanger anyones live.

HuH? And you have never done something wrong ? Illegal? like cross the white line in a PPA race?

You started with the name calling....and you dont seem to get it either......I am not saying that a cyclist should tell a motorist.....but are you ever a motorist? As a motorist do you then tell your fellow motorist what they are doing wrong? What have you achieved by telling someone to buckle up? Nothing?

The problem is that PPA does nothing about it...I reported a few riders for this and nothing....you would tink that PPA would welcome this, but they seem to ignore it.

Why do you think I would have a bell? Did you not read the thread.....I beak the "law" all the time and do the most "stupid" things liek blitzing pass traffic while they are at a red light......so do you think that I would adhere to any law?

I heard(read somewhere on the hub) that there were some SRAM RD's that had "weak" springs and they know about it but has not issued a recall.....maybe check with SRAM if your RD is one of them.

If you care for your fellow man, please start doing it ALL the time.....ie, at everyone not using their seatbelt.....

Well said andydude, that is what I am referring to. Some intersections is so busy that it is the safest due to the layout etc to "jump" in those few seconds when it is red to everyone. I find it funny that people here will come and moan about cyclist and use everything from "it's the Law" (when they break some law on a daily basis) to "you piss of motorist" I am happy for these cyclist to shout at others (if they keep there nose clean) and ALSO when they apply that rule to ALL the road users not just cyclist..... By that I mean, do these guys also shout and take pictures of every pedestrian, taxi, bus driver using his cell phone ETC ETC ETC If it is about image, then why don’t they also want to protect the image of their fellow motorists? I wish they could show me when last they hooted(etc) at someone who does not have their kid buckled in???? Anyway, there is not debate here, just emotions and people starting to call others names which is pathetic.....

I never said blitz a robot. I slow down and then cross especially at a T junction. Why not ? Btw Everyone of you moaning here break the every time you ride your bike without a bell attached to it. Please split the 2 issues. 1 making motorists angry at the way I ride. ( you have a point. Only if you act the same toward ALL idiots on the road and not just cyclist) 2 I get run over by a car etc( NOT your problem stop telling other people what to do and unsafe it is while ranting for days about it) you don't stop every person who is not wearing their safety belt and rant at them?

Yea right you will do this to cyclist but not taxis I bet you? Do you only hit the soft targets?

But i also think it is short sighted by anyone thinking that motorist will ever change there attitude towards cyclist.

Replace cyclist with taxi driver....and read your story again? What I find interesting is that None of youmwhomtake pictures of cyclist and moan here will ever do the same onward a taxi? So if you can allow the to do what they want......allow me to do what I want.....just look at me as another taxi driver, cellphone user while driving , etc

My tax money is being spend anyway and there is nothing I can do about it. What you are saying that it is problem when the politicians spends millions on a car? That is not logical I can do nothing about the way my tax money is being spend.

Motorist dont follow the rules, pedestrians don't, Taxis CERTAINLY don't and so we can carry on and on and on and on....so like I have said before if people are NOT prepared to change the behaviour off EVERY road user we are wasting our time.... WRT to rules...only a short while ago people on the hub were giving advice to fellow hubber how to break the import/vat rules.. So unfortunately we / you are fighting a loosing battle...but if you have to / want to carry on fighting it....then good on you...i am done...I ride the way I feel safe and not the way anyone tells me to ride.....that seems to be the attitude these days..

This moan again....we are not going to change those cyclist....and please don’t shout at them (me sometimes) when I cross a red light at a T-Junction....it is their live and NOT your / our problem We don't shout at ever person that is not buckled up in their car, chucks a cigarettes out the window or crosses a solid line when they overtake....so why do it at cyclist or come and moan here..... It is NOT your duty to report them or try and rectify their actions and no matter how much you lot shout here on the hub I personally will go slowly over SOME red lights when I feel it is safer than trying to flow with the traffic..... Cycling in traffic is also a survial game and I am tired of everyone saying "it is the law"......please start minding your own bussiness!
