  1. It is the lack of respect on the road! On my commute this morning I noticed the following traffic/rules/laws being broken. 3 women talking on their cell phones 2 Red traffic lights being ignored 1 car swapping lanes over solid line without indicator usage 1 car overtaking into oncoming traffic (there were more but these are the worst ones that stood out) That excluded the non-seatbelt wearing, general driving like idiots. Now if motorist do not respect each other, or the laws of the country....they will NOT respect us. So I stand by my statement, riding on the roads is a survival game and we should ride the way WE feel safe. If that means I go over a red light when ALL other cars are stationary I am doing it. If/When someone shout at me here is my response..."Sorry!!!" If you had to remove all cyclist from the road for a year you will still have the same drivers(that do not respect anyone else) that will shout, hoot etc, they will just find another “target” It will NEVER change as long as PEOPLE in this country do not respect each other or the laws.
  2. By entering a race surely you have PAID for the result?
  3. I understand that, but why do you have to be a member of PPA to see your time online once you have a chip and paid for the race?
  4. What you guys forget is that PPA does NOT oragnise races....they merely faciclityate....they do not check that they organiser has enough water tables, marchals etc. PPA advises and that does the timing...that is it!
  5. When you are new to cycling, and you pay to enter a race, pay for a temp number, pay for a chip etc....Why is your time NOT displayed? Why do you have to become a member of PPA to see your time?
  6. agree with that part
  7. How does AC "know" it came from a steak?
  8. +1 At the same time PPA can this nonsense that you have to be a PPA member to see your time online. After all the races are theirs they merely facilitate.
  9. PPA is not a club but social organization. They do not organise race only facilitate it.
  10. My bad then.....
  11. Looked to me that you are ok with the drivers actions?
  12. Do you honestly want to justify this drivers attitude? Do you go and kick a dent in BMW door because one cut you off months ago ?
  13. I dont think so, this guy was looking for a fight....and a reason to justify his actions......I bet you if you ride properly 5 m away from this clot on the cycle lane he will still have a problem with you. How can a cyclist piss him off enough to skip a stop street........!?
  14. That comment is his excuse for being a knuckle dragger.....
  15. Sound to me like to OP want you to PM him, and not do any searching?
  16.
  17. LL are you serious? A bouncer? They should rather have a process to ban those mbers.
  18. Apparently they do, and registration.....cost is fifty someting rand
  19. 100% correct. Drivers think that cyclist do not belong on the road. We need to stake our claim again. Edit: Grumpy clearly a truck wil win well a motorbike will win but that is not the point. Cyclist are allowed to be on the roads and yes we need to pick our battles. In normal traffic car ignore me like I am not there does not matter how nice your ride. Wrt to a truck and even some cars it does not matter it you are on the road or hugging the curb they will pass you with about 5 cm space. So it does matter if it is a car or a 42 wheeler coming past you, if they touch us we are dead. Yet they seem to get as close to us as possible. Hence I like to try and be visible and if that claim my piece of road.
  20. Edit: Contador banned and LA cleared.....interesting
  21. I think the late entry fee is nonsense not the initial entry fee.
  22.
  23. Maybe we should be challenging the rules.....clearly we can learn from other countries......rather than say this is Africa? weeclarky is not saying that we should not be considerate to each other?
