  1. Nice to hear .... confirms why Finish Line has been my LBS for 10-years
  2. I go to Finish Line Cycles coz the staff ride, know the products and offer advice based on experience ... nuff said!!
  3. I'm very happy with my terralogic
  4. This was the last full susp frame that came from Raleigh- the MR series. Nothing wrong with it at all. A simple system that I feel, only in certain applications, is better than the the previous generation single pivot RDS series. I would buy either of them.
  5. Not nearly big enough ....
  6. Jumping to next year's race. In 11 months time there will be less room at Waterfall as houses, offices etc are completed so th estate will simply not be big enough to accommodate 30 000 cyclists. Kyalami's future is uncertain, and the event out grew the track a number of years ago (2005?). So honestly, where is there a venue anywhere near Woodmead that could host the event. For years JHB City have been suggesting Nasrec .... will it move there, I wonder?
  7. Anyone notice the ******** who rode without a helmet ... I saw him on the M2 (I started in Z)?
  8. Basic rule of the road whether in a car or on a bicycle is keep left and overtake on the right .... surely that's not too difficult to comprehend .... unless they do the same in a car!!!
  9. ... thanks for that ... I also didn't know!!
  10. The amount of litter also surprised me. I went too hard from JHB city to halfway ... and it was a slog from there. Ice cold coke was nice at the finish!!
  11. Why I bitched about parking is because I was not told about it, drove in to discover it was R20 which is a shed load of money for a few hours. Why did I go on Thursday morning. A) because I have work to do in the afternoon. B) Because I've got a shoot on Frid. C) will be editing on Sat. Why can't we just use our chip to get into the start pens. Who needs this rubbish bag collection? I enter a race... not all the s h i t that goes with it !!
  12. Momentum 94.7 registration and rubbish bag collection is a nightmare and there's a R20 parking charge .... seems like Tanya Harford is really ripping the ring out of this event!! It took almost an hour in a queue to get my race pack. Surely we don't need a bag of garbage and a simple timing mat that picks up a transponder as you go into the pens would be sufficient. If your transponder is not picked up, you not allowed into start pen - simple as that. Then there's no need for this schlep!!! Another gripe is about bulk number collecting. I timed a lady at the counter for about 15min collecting a whole whack of numbers. Surely they should be told to go to the bulk collection queue?

  14. I'm glad I went on my own 80km jaunt around Giloolies, Serengetti, Bapsfontein etc ...was great!!
  15. Oh dear .... missed last year race and this time I start with Z bunch, previously done 3:50 so surely this is wrong. What time is Z expected to do it in .... Jan Smuts ave is scary at the back end!!
  16. Now that a Chinese company has bought of AECI property at Modderfontein, I foresee the end of Modderfontein as an MTB trial. "The Modderfontein area in Gauteng is in for a commercial transformation, and its developers hope that it will rival cities like London, Hong Kong and New York City. A Chinese conglomerate has purchased 1,600 hectares of land and plans to invest R80-billion rand to make the city a world capital. In one of the largest commercial property deals in the continent's history, Chinese contingent Shanghai Zendai is to plough billions in an attempt to turn the sleepy town into an international business hub."
  17. I entered, got confirmation that my payment had been received "Your Payment of R320.00 has been successful"... and nothing since. No entry confirmation, no seeding, nothing whatsoever!!!
  18. Very little hope unless a highly qualified medic is working on you within a minute. Artery could also be ruptured without puncturing the skin ...diagnosis is then difficult if not impossible within the time available.
  19. Just looked at a long term weather forecast and its gonna rain... thank goodness its a short race!!!
  20. ... and corrugated!!
  21. Anyone know why the 56km Crater Cruise has been replaced by a 40km? Also entries are priced strangely - R250 for 102km Marathon but R200 for the 40km.
  22. R250 for 102km Marathon but R200 for the 40km WTF .... I have done this every year since 2005 but think I'll save my money this time. I'm not going all that way for 40km and have done the 102km twice but vowed never again to ride those corrugated roads for that distance!!
  23. Anyone who rides with a gun has never had the pleasure of being hijacked. The bastwids do not have "I'm a hijacker" signs. They simply step off the pavement pointing a gun when you get to them - they do not even have to chase you!! You will not have time to use your guns, knives, mace or any other weapon you have.. unless of course you're part of a group of 10 or so.
  24. They only ride on Sat & Sun mornings
  25. I wore my GT I-drive out after only 20 000km. Frame was worn out at BB linkage so I bought a 2nd/h Raleigh which will last for the next 20k km... Dunno where they are made!!
