  1. Thanks guys. I'm only, like, a week behind the times. A bit like my cycling. Slow!
  2. I'm hearing some disturbing news about an increase in muggings and attacks along the Spruit. Apparently, near the Virgin active on Rustenburg Rd. These attacks are not limited to individual victims only. I want to know how true this is and what other areas along the Spruit and environs are hotspots? Is there a spreadsheet/database that tracks this info in an easy to read format? (Councillor, Bridgette Steer, has arranged for JMPD to be at Rustenburg Rd from 6:16 to 7:30, from Monday to Friday next week. Not sure what happens beyond this.)
  3. My complete respect goes out to all these athletes for their effort too date and for all the entertainment they have provided us. For me the final bit of fun is in trying to predict the "cut". I reckon that none of those lying behind Gavin Horton will make the time limit. I hope some of them can prove me wrong.
  4. 90 Inch, love your work, Bud. Keep it coming!
  5. My money says that Brandon "scratches" when he realizes he cannot win.
  6. I agree. I think Brandon lacks adventure racing experience and that is why he may struggle to win this event. Adventure racing is very different. The Dreyers have to be one of the best teams out there for managing an event of this nature. Interesting, also, to see how well Mike Woolnough is doing. He must be in his mid fifties. His adventure racing experience is extensive.
  7. Don't think BS will win. He is over 2 hours behind and has not slept yet, by the looks of things. Neither has Vaughn, but he has a handy lead. Jeannie has just had a 2.5 hour sleep and is back on the road. i reckon she's the one to watch.
  8. Running Maxxis on 3 of my bikes. This is my bikepacking rig. I like them 'cos of the their durability, in particular, their sidewall strength. I should be given them for my loyalty to the brand. @bikehubber #scottsportsafrica #maxxistyresSA #bikehubber. http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4qXPKuDODnU/VIhfNylgnPI/AAAAAAAAAkc/dbkS92Qt0B0/s1600/20141210_160155.jpg
  9. I got my Brooks Cambium C17 from Brooks SA. This is the non-leather version. Comfortable. Took about 3 rides to adjust. Must also add that I ride hardtail MTB's, only. I have searched for that elusive comfort in the derriere region and as a result, I now own 7 saddles. I can also recommend Adamo ISM saddles. I run the Full Gel Road ISM on my touring MTB. info@brooksengland.co.za
  10. Greyhound prefers one to box the bike, but the folk loading the bikes at the buss are not insistent. I just did a trip where I rode from my home to Park Station (JHB). They loaded my bicycle, without hassle and it was not boxed. They will charge you an additional fee that seems open to interpretation. This was R 200.00 from JHB to Volksrust. You should expect to waive any breakage issues, should your bike not be boxed. On my way back i caught the Greyhound in Ladysmith. Again, hassle free. This time the cost was only R 100.00. Small price to pay for the convenience.
  11. @Carbon29er. Exactly what I was referring to. I think that is one way only.
  12. @Lancesball. Also going Emirates. Now allowed 2x23kg. Concerned, however that the size of a bike box(length+breadth+width) exceeds 1.5m limit. You seem to have had no problems?
  13. Thanks all. Going to Greece first, so the shorter interconnecting flights are the problem. Their rates for bike luggage start adding up.
  14. To all, thanx for the suggestions. Rental it will be. Special word of thanx to Lerouc. If only we had the time
  15. Advise needed on the cheapest way to get bicycles to Geneva for the final week of the Tour de France. Please help.
