  1. That is rough..sorry to hear. Any idea how they did it? I have now become a little paranoid with my Toyota. I actually go back to physically try the door handle in case they have used another remote to block my remote.
  2. Besides a lekker fall as I came into the last straight, in front of all the spectators, it was a fun day out. Those climbs were tough for me as a recreational cyclist, but doable. Just can't figure out why a lot of slower cyclists refuse to keep left .....not for me, but for the racing snakes. No wonder the faster guys get frustrated.
  3. There are still honest people around...good on you Kemitche!!!
  4. Was there today...
  5. I am in the same boat...leave at 7 and home after 5. I ride the indoor bike during the week ( not ideal, I know) and the bicycle on the weekend!
  6. Good on you...hope you find the owner.
  7. S Exactly the same place (see you're a WD as well)
  8. Enjoyed it...did the 30....lots of narrow bits and enjoyed the berms...will be back next year!
  9. It's a secret....
  10. Interestingly, at the "chicken run" bottleneck, we compared three or four "distance covered so far" on the difference bike computers, including my Garmin forerunner and they were all different, by up to 2km.
  11. To answer the question, I don't ride a carbon...do wear Lycra though. I was also wondering if the rock formations on that hill have a high iron content. Don't know what effect that would have, but in northern KZN we used to experience some serious electric storms because, apparently, the rock had a very high iron content! BTW, no Tik or Acid...
  12. This is going to sound "out there"...but hear me out! I did the Big Red Barn 30km today. While riding up the one hill just before the USN table on the road, it suddenly felt like I was being stung on the upper, inner thighs where they make contact with the saddle. It was so sore I jumped off the bike. Just then my fingers touched the metal part of the handlebar and it was like touching a live electrical wire! I then realized that the shock in the nether regions came from the saddle rails...if I stood up, no shock! Coincidentally, this happened under those huge power lines. Two other people confirmed that the same had happened to them, also under the power lines.....how is this possible? Any got any idea. I have never experienced this in my life...and I have been around for nearly 50 years. Anyone else experience this?
  13. Classic...thanks for sharing. Must admit, I admire the cows...good work!
  14. Man...that is a bitter pill to swallow! I sincerely hope the bikes come back to you and karma interacts with the thieves in a savage and forceful way!!
  15. RIP
  16. I also have the Thule Express and was looking at one of these, for the same reasons. Did you buy one?
  17. So, Jacques....how did it go?
  18. ....but like I experienced recently...looked up...white lycra, no undies...lets just say, what has been seen, cannot be unseen
  19. I thank you anyway ...in a moment of "I have always wanted to do the 94.7", mid-life crises driven, mad, irrational moments, I signed up for this ...nuff said!
  20. At almost 50 years old and it being my first 94.7, I dont give a rats bum about being cool...when I am so tired I cant even say my own name, "cool' is the furtherest thing from my mind! ...I will go for what will make my ride easier, more comfortable and more enjoyable Enjoying this thread....
  21. I am also doing my first 94.7, on a MTB too. I have the Maxxis Monorail and am told by everyone to put "road" tyres on. Still deciding, as I am aiming for "sub-cutoff"....certainly no racing snake. Also in the JJ group. I think we start when some are already on their way home.
  22. Also looking for MTB shoes at a reasonable price, but trying to find a 13 or 14 size. Most shoes go to a European size 50, which are too small. So I use running shoes. Never owned a pair of cycling shoes, not by choice....( My best is when people start lecturing me on why I should be wearing proper cycling shoes...)
