  1. I did the 45km last year and the entry was R350 and I felt it was worth it then.
  2. Will do
  3. Great ride, enjoyed the route and well organised event. The things I enjoyed: * Route had more single-track than alternative route done due to mud - great * Condition of route was perfect * Mixture of singletrack/jeep track and sand roads perfect (passing, variety and resting etc) * Well organised event, pre-entry to day entry and pricing Things I found annoying: * Having to deal with 15km/30km guys on first lap (there are places to pass but this time I met up at the singletrack) * Marshal (security guard) telling a group of us to go past chicken farm gate instead of inside (minor delay) * A few places where route spits without marker (nothing too major though) * Bridge has a few weeks left, quite a bit of firewood lying about there. I have heard the 60km single lap route is on its way, that will be amazing in this area. I will be back for the next one, the minor annoying things will not deter me from coming back, especially now that I know the route better.
  4. Hi, I bought the AMX-1, which is the same spec as this bike, just the mens bike. I also bought mine about a year ago and still very happy with the bike. I've done about 3000km and all still good. Check the frame for damage, it is an aluminum frame and seems strong, but if there are dents or bad damage get it checked out. The fork being carbon check for damage. The price I paid was around R7000 from online shop brand new. So R4500 is still good even for 2nd hand. The 2012 Tiagra is 10 speed and quiet a bit more for the new groupset. So in 2012 you will not get Tiarga for under R7000 / R8000.
  5. Anyone know what the road surface is like around the back of this route?
  6. Hi - going down on Saturday until early Jan. I'm based in the Port Shepstone area, I have planned the following rides: Port Shepstone - Pennington (stay over in Pennington 1 night - back to Port Shepstone the next day) Port Shepstone to Oribi Gorge and back (might drive to Oribi and do a few trails there) Port Shepstone to Lake Eland and back (might drive to Lake Eland and do a few trails there) It is just me at the moment - I might do a few short rides with my boy a few days as well. Cheers Kevin
  7. Hi - usually open on Public Holidays - Sunrise - should be no different tomorrow morning
  8. The guys who do timing (spectrum) usually have it up - if there are no problems around 6 or 7pm on the evening of the event.
  9. Doing the same in December - but going to be based more towards Port Shepstone side. Maybe one day take a drive to Oribi Gorge and Lake Eland areas.

  11. Hi - I'm keen - checked now and Online Entries have closed!
  12. Hi I was having the same issue, firstly it was with my back tyre and then my front. Before I had the issue, the 1 thing that I did change to my normal tyre/tube setup - was adding tyre liners (Ryder). What seemed to be happening was sand, grass and other very fine materials were getting into the tyre/tube/lining and mixed with the powder from the tubes, it seemed to make the tube, tyre and liner very slippery - and in 1 day I had 4 tube's values getting pulled from the tube. My solution: ============ 1) I had the Schrader - thick black valve initially with the bike - so I decided to change to Presta - thin steel valve (with steel nut inside rim and normal one on the outside of the value 2) Clean the inner tyre with water & cloth 3) Clean the tyre liner with water & cloth 4) Add a bit of syrup in between the tyre/tube and liner I have not had the same issue re-occur - done about 300km since with various types of terrain. Good luck - I know this is not the most elegant - but has worked for me so far - but will be upgrading to tubeless in the near future.

  14. The 2-day stage race was on cyclelab a month or so ago, but has been off for the past month. It is now back and it looks like it has changed to a single day with 2 different distances. 70km and 45km. The CradleQuest website (http://cradlequest.co.za/) is still talking about the 2 stage race - but no way to contact them except for an email address that does not send replies. So it seems the ride at the moment is a single day Marathon and Half-Marathon. I'll try make contact tomorrow with the name and number on the new cyclelab ride entry for Cradle Quest 2011: Erik Schipper Phone: 073 2228260
