  1. Paragraph 1 basically correct. But bear in mind there is a world wide narrative to disincentivize civilians from having the means to viably defend themselves in confrontations with violent perpetrators and allow 'trained LE' responders to come save you in that given moment, that doesn't often work out well for the victim to have armed response post the event. Its a Catch 22 carrying, it is definitely not for everyone and comes with it own unique set of complications. 2 if you are under attack, reasonable, rational and proportional will apply. Reality is in this country many victims of attacks with stones/bricks/clubs/knives/fists have died, you would be able to justify in most cases if attacked with the above defense. You don't have to use the same means of defense/weapon as they using to attack you. 3 yes concealment is a requirement, if it in a holster, under shirt/cover or bag it legally concealed.
  2. Stolen: Titan Cypher Pro 120 LG 2021 When: 29/01/2024Where: Rondebosch, Cape Town, Western CapeSram wireless 1x12 carbon rims bar endsGet further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  3. I've used both. Went the Saucony Peregrine route. Find them very durable, comfortable and most importantly the grip gives me confidence in them when on technical stuff.
  4. I'm a Reservists at SAPS HBay, and was one of the officers that recovered the bike. We got lucky because they where moving it to sell it, after have kept it hidden since the incident. Without sounding condescending, i don't think the general public has any idea how under resourced SAPS is on the ground and how in reality overwhelmed they are. And that's in WC station. Believe me when I say the saying 'thin blue line' is very appt. Support your SSP'S, local crime fighting entities and CPF's, they will be the deciding factor between communities overun with crime and those that manage it too a tolerable level. If you think things are going to get better on the crime front, I'm afraid your naive or going to be disappointed.
  5. Easier said than done.. HBAY has a active NHW, CPF and very committed and well resourced community crime prevention outfit called CCP, along with above average SSP's. SAPS is under resourced by about 40 staff members in that station. Often they only have 3 officers on a shift at night. 2 have to be in CSC at all times, policy is 2 per vehicle to respond. Do the math to that problem.. Numerous attempts have been made to catch the perps involving private SSP's and SAPS. All parties are actively patrolling that area at high risk times. Reality is, you have committed and experienced totsis, willing and able. They sit ,wait and take opportunities when they present. It takes all of 45 seconds to move from a vantage point out of site, to striking and dissappearing back into a sea of shacks and 20 000 people. Easy to say what should happen, not so easy to be successful in that.
  6. Not sure I agree, I stay in HBay and there a quite lot of dogs nailed every snake season, all kinds. Terriers especially obviously. Cobra is a problem even for big dogs if you don't get them to a respirator quickly. And you left off Boomslang, good luck finding that antivenom ! 68 hospitals later I eventually found some for my dog. Contrary to popular belief they can bite them/you anywhere. My boy was bitten square in the center of his chest, the same month he was bitten by a large speckled cobra! It was a VERY expensive month 🤐
  7. Hi, where and who does this ? I need that for my Amstaffs! Cant afford another snake bite this season .
  8. Eish. Goodluck. I joke with all my mates now , riding is hiding , running is real ! It just breaks you 🤐
  9. And how much running before that ? Ie did you ramp up from very little to that volume and pace in this year alone ? It takes time for ligaments, tendons to handle the load of running versus ramping up significantly on a low impact sport like cycling. I'm in exactly the same boat with Tendinopathy in my right knee. 3 months off since comrades in june and only just started progressively loading it now with the idea of building for comrades next year. Only thing that seems to have made a difference is the weighted strength exercises latest physio has me doing.
  10. Have you been to a good physio versus Doc ? Much more to it than just getting an injection. what volume/km per week are you doing , whats a blistering pace ie are you running too hard too fast relative to your bodies running experience ect.
  11. Course was 88.8km on my garmin and a mates. So not as short as made it.
