  1. Looks like the 29 inch wheel has also given them more room to fit everything in and the outer leg looks like it is longer and so covers the internals further allowing for a simple seal... Or not
  2. LOL guys... Ya, I like my CBack and will use it on outrides but lately I can manage with less liquid on a 2hour ride. My whole 20km is less than 4km from home so not a train smash if i cannot fix the mechanical. Tube Bombs Multi tool (CBrothers) Lever 2 x Master links (quick style) Sweets Phone with Endomondo 500ml on bike 500ml on back
  3. Would you say a tube over plugs or both?
  4. I've ridden for years with a Camelbak....now I'm thinking of ditching it for the 20-40km rides of up to 2.5hours... What do you guys take with you on a ride other than liquids (2x750ml)? NOTE: Saddle bags and Cr@p are banned!!! So just what one can fit in a shirt please!! Multi tool - good one Tyre levers Tubless plugs or a tube? Sweets Phone What else??
  5. I'm in East London, worked in Umtata for a year and as nice as the trails are I would never ride there unless in a large group!! If your son wants to come ride in EL please PM me and he is more than welcome to ride my favourite trails, I'll also try and match him up with someone who is of similar strength to train with as I am just getting back in the saddle.
  6. I have tried Endomondo now and its is very good. better from a comunity perspective.... Thanks for the tip!
  7. Cool... and does it do that in the free subscribers too?? I like the interface, looks easy enough to use and seems popular
  8. Had a look and signed up at Endomondo to see what thats about, looks good!!. The only thing I cannot see is if it maps the route as well as records altitude and velocity changes during the ride? SP has quite a detailed breakdown of your ride, identifying best average speed by section, time and alititude change... Maybe Endo does this with a full workout that you load up, I have only looked at other public routes. Will give it a try as well.
  9. I have never tried Endomondo and never said Sportypal was better/worse than anything, its just a free app that I thought was worth sharing...
  10. http://sportypal.com/Download or go onto sportypal on your mobile device and it will automatically select the right download for you! I see they just released the IPhone app that can do cadance and Hr and a bunch of other stuff!
  11. Hey Guys, Not sure how many guys know about this but just got Sportypal for my BBerry(any smart phone) and I'm really impressed. It has a great interface and tracks your whole ride onto a google map, great for sharing rides etc. It also records time, distance and speed and can be hooked up to a HR monitor and some other fancy training aids if you want to pay...OH ya, the mapping, time, distance and speed is FREE!! And these days I find thats a real rarity!! It's not for the out and out pro, for that I recon a full GPS like a Garmin will be cool but it has a hell of alot of the same features for a heck of a lot less!!!...and it can do more stuff I haven't even tried yet Try it, its working great for me and no I don't work for them or get anything out of this other than fun! Callum
  12. Maybe Mavic had an old set lying around?? Hmmm
  13. The tech from Mavic SA says they are Lefty Wheelsets from 2011...hmmmm....learn something new every day!
  14. Strange, he got them from Mavic in 2011 as a wheelset?
  15. Hey, A guy has a set of what he says are fairy new 2011 Mavic SLR's for sale......but.... I noticed the rim is all black...ie: does not have the milled alloy finish between the spokes on the rim surface... Could these be 2007/08 rims? Or did they make some like that in 2011?
  16. Good day, I am based in East London and have a few friends in the Bike Business. It has always been a hot topic in our small town as to who your LBS is and what they do and don't do when it comes to supporting them. I was wondering what the national guys think is the most important factor regarding LBS and what makes one better than the other? I added a poll, hope it works, mainly as an idicator as to what rates as more important....maybe you have other aspects to add so please do so if you wish... This is not for anyone to be singled out but rather to better the service we recieve and in so doing improve and grow the sport of MTB/Road Cycling in the area... SO PLEASE CAN EVERYONE COMMENT!! Thanks!
  17. I miss the good old DH days... I miss my GT Lobo too!!! Looking at running them Schwalbe Protection tires...whats the best combo Rockets and Ralphs?
  18. Mayhem, come do LORD OF THE CHAINRINGS hre in the EC next year and we'll see whats "not real Mountain Biking" then...
  19. Weighed my bike today without tires or saddle and it came to 8.7kg's.... I want it under 10 complete... What would you recommend? PS: I have XT pedals which could be the biggest weight issue...LOL
  20. +1 I research everything, ask all the questions and know a lot of technical stuff but at the end of the day it makes my legs no stronger or lungs any bigger and I still have the title "all the gear and no idea"...LOL
  21. My Tires are for a Scalpel Ultimate. I weigh 65kg's and do training on a tiny bit of tar then mostly hardpack with a light bit of dirt ontop. Not really rocky like the Vaal down here in East London area.
  22. http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicycle/themes/mtb/cc_marathon/Race%20King/raceking_en.html
  23. Are the Race King Protection TLready? They are 550g in wieght and have a 4 ply sidewall... They 2.2....hmmm... sounds like an option over full UST ones.
  24. Hmmm...now I'm wondering, I thought the Race king was for front....and not go UST?? Those are nice and light in that combination!
  25. Thanks guys, going to try race king UST 2.0 front and 2.2 rear....will see how it goes and try it out myself!!
