A quick heads up that we are establishing a MTB/Running trail network on the Meander which will be open on 1st June. Routes will be 5, 10, 20 and 30kms with a mix of forest track and singletrack, and zero tar. About 50% of the singletracks are old trails that we are re-opening, and the rest is brand new. Don't scoff at the short distances - all but the 5km route include some moderate climbing, so you will earn your brekka and craft beers afterwards. Access will be from PigglyWiggly and Nelson Mandela Capture Site. Ride-as-much-as-you-want Day Trail fee of R50 will be payable by Zapper at the start. I will post on this Forum Topic as we progress. So after riding this amazing little bike with a double crankset for the last 3-4 years, I made the leap to SS. Holy Moly.. What an experience. Loved it!! I have a newfound respect for SSers and am really looking forward to getting to grips with a new dimension of MTB.

Hi Jace, yes, its that time of the year again. H2H around the corner and the fitness levels are far from ideal. I am based up near Michaelhouse and do H2H every year to try and keep focused through winter. I will start training this weekend, so you are welcome to come up and join us for some great "hidden gem" riding around our area and top end of Karkloof. Let me know and I will keep you posted on riding plans.

You know how it goes - I had a few parts lying around including a Carbon Lefty and decided to try and find a second hand Flash carbon frame on eBay and build a bike out of my spares. I found a medium carbon Flash 1 frame (in Puerto Rico) which arrived in less than a week which was duly sent off to Cliff for the stealth treatment.. Here are the pics..

Hi, I have a C40 in pretty good nick which I don't use anymore. It has Campag components, FIR carbon wheelset with flat carbon spokes, FSA carbon Team crankset. Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth and is anyone interested in buying it? If so, I'll put up some pics. The bike is up in Jhb.

Hi Gents, I came across L'Eroica while riding in Tuscany last October and am almost certainly going to go over for it one year, if I can get an entry. What an awesome event. We came across the riders at Montalcino which is about half way through their 209km Epic and rode part of the route with them - which was a pretty average dirt road. I think that over 80% of the original Italian event is on these sand roads. Re doing one in SA, I think it's a fantastic idea and am going to chat to some mates who might be interested in organizing it. I live in KZN Midlands and know of a few great 100-150k loops on a mix of good dirt and tar roads starting/finishing in Notties which would be an ideal venue with lots of accommodation and things to do, eat and drink. Will keep you posted.

I am a local MTBer in the area, so if there are any visitors who are keen to join us over the holiday period, message me and I will let you know when and where we are riding. Distances between 50-120k - depending on amount of Christmas Cheer the night before..

Also keen on this for next year, but I am up at the Sunninghill end of the Spruit. Does anyone else start up this end?

Last week while riding in Italy, we came across a true classic: 205k single-stage, 80% on gravel roads through Tuscany - on a unmodified pre-'87 road bikes i.e steel frames, frame mounted shifters, toe straps, etc. 2500 riders. Respect!
