  1. How do Hope hubs compare to XT hubs? And will upgrading to the ZTR Flow rims be worth it from my stock Alex Rims? Also looking for a new wheelset.
  2. I had excellent service from them, one bad dealing doesn't mean they are terrible, get over yourself.
  3. Come on guys, 15 posts down and no recommendations yet. Let me start the debate which is very likely to ensue. R12 500 - R15 000: Titan 29R Pro, Full XT Groupset, Rockshox Reba fork. R14 400. Momsen AL529: R13 995
  4. With the help of the power of the hub, I think it is possible.
  5. Smolster, the only reason this website exists is because red bikes are fastest.
  6. Ok, so if in a price bracket, it is best to look for a second hand bike, then say so and recommend the specifications. In each category you can recommend a MTB or Road bike. If a category can take a dual sus or a hardtail then both can be considered but one will be better. Each month a new list can be published based on new releases.
  7. I got thinking that every so often we can release a new list of updated models in the different price ranges. Probably every three to six month since new bikes don't show up that often. So when it's up to date, you know that for the give budget you are getting the best possible value for money.
  8. Actually Smolster, I created this thread for you. So you don't have to recommend a "red one" all the time. So just for that reason we'll create a red group. All categories will get a red bike group.
  9. So we get a lot of newbies (and more experienced Hubbers) asking what's the best bike for a particular price range? Now I know that it's fact that red bikes are fastest but in terms of spec, what is the best purchase for different price brackets. Do you think there will be value in creating a thread for recommendations in different categories, make some recommendations for the following price ranges: R3500 - R5000 R5000 - R8500 R8500 - R12 5000 Axis A10 29er - R11 799 R12 500 - R15 500 Titan 29R Pro, Full XT Groupset, Rockshox Reba fork. R14 400. Momsen AL529: R13 995 R15 500 - R20 000 R20 000 - R25 000 Commencal Meta AM 3 - R26 500ish (www.buycycle.co.za) R25 000 - R35 000 R35 000+ I know this could get very subjective but maybe we can get a shortlist for each category. Make you recommendations Hubbers!
  10. I thought you were talking about a "silent THE hub", that would just be crazy talk!
  11. Great trail! Only place to rival Welvanpas is Thandi/Paul Cluver, think it might have more single track.
  12. I'm travelling from Cape Town to do the 60km. Would like to see the route profile.
  13. I use a Zephyr HRM with my Android phone on Endomondo. It's compatible with Sports Tracker and Google MyTracks as well. With this HRM as long as you have bluetooth it will work. Check out this site that shows what apps are compatible: http://www.zephyr-technology.com/consumer-hxm Unfortunately I don't know of a local distributor.
  14. Check Neils Wheels, plenty of stolen bikes have been found on his shop floor.
  15. Well done! Glad everything worked out. Waiting to hear where this happened? I ride quite often in the norther suburbs and thought this only happened in the north of the country. I will have to consider some form of protection in the future.
  16. I wanted to do this race but I'd be spending more time in the car getting there than I would on the bike doing the race.
  17. Here's another one that does it for free: http://www.myssl.co.za/i4sbf/ Application form to schedule the installation.
  18. It's a website called "let me google that for you".... www.lmgtfy.com
  19. Just remember that there's a catch with going to Diamond. You have to maintain gold for 3 years and then the following year you will be on Diamond. So for example: 2012: Reach Gold 2013: Maintain Gold 2014: Maintain Gold - Stay on Gold until the end of the year. Move to Diamond from 1 Jan of next year. 2015: From 1 January move to Diamond status. Might be useless information but this caught me out. I thought as soon as I reached gold on the 3rd year that I'd be moved to Gold but not so.
  20. Once you click "Buy now" it gives you the option to choose one of the 3 lights.
  21. Just had a look at the deal, there are three deals. One is clearly marked as "Extreme Light 1200 LED". The other two are clearly marked as "Pyro 1000 LED" and "Pyro 2000 LED". I think Pyro has a leg to stand on if Extreme Lights is in fact a separate entity and they piggy backed on the deal. Although I don't think that there is any foul play here at trying to market something which it is not. Everything is clearly marked if you read the details.
  22. If you don't like the deal then get a refund - http://www.groupon.com/groupon-promise.
  23. According to this, 20" should be the minimum you should consider: http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer/mountain-bike/size-sheet?utf8=%E2%9C%93&u=cm&r=man&h=1920.0&i=900.0&b=Calculate
  24. +1 Or as every manufacturer of entry-level/mainstream bicycles favorite cost saver/price dropper!
