  1. I can’t see why a Roadie would want to mount a GoPro. They are all about speed and low drag, so why would they want to double their wind resistance?
  2. I think they are trying to ban the use of cameras on handlebars because it distracts your attention from the trail/road. But surely if Roxshock and Fox can develop a remote lockout for a shock then Gopro and the rest can develop a remote for their bar mounted camera which should not take more than a second to operate.
  3. If no mp3 players are allowed, will the pro teams be banned from using radios to communicate to their riders? I mean they have an earpiece in their ear which can cause them to not hear a cyclist to their left or right (depending in which ear they have it) which can cause an accident. I am all for the "No mp3 player rule though. I think they should ban mp3 players in the gym as well, because you get the guy doing a set of his weights and then listens to his tunes for the next 5-8min "resting", but then again I would also rather listen to some music than to some grunting gorilla. Sleeveless shirt: Come on CSA/UCI. I used to love MTBing in my sleeveless shirt. Extra cooling on those long slow rocky climbs which lowers the risk of dehydration as well. Ja sure I got the odd scratch from a thorn bush but none life threatening which brings me to my next point. We all sign indemnity forms at the race which indemnifies the organizers and sponsors etc. against any claims resulting from injury or death. Why then can we not use a sleeveless shirt. Sure, if you use a mp3 player or camera and use it whilst riding you can cause a fellow rider to fall and get injured. Therefore I can understand these rules. I will ToiToi for my sleeveless shirt though! Man I miss the way MTB use to be. People were more courteous. Gave way to faster riders where they can. We use to always greet each other and sometimes pass a joke and never thought of being a weirdo. No you are a weirdo if you greet or pass a joke.
  4. What is the female version of a Chop! Talking about Chops, sommer report her on "Drive like a Chop" as well. http://www.drivelikeachop.co.za/login.php
  5. It does not make sense to restrict them to 26" wheels because the 29' wheel has less rolling resistance which should not have such a big impact on their growing bones and ligaments etc. Or, so they say. I'm on a 26'' so I can’t really comment.
  6. They must do something to slow these youngsters down! I CANT KEEP UP WITH THEM!
  7. Maybe I must hire an Ostrich for my races. I'm sure my time and seeding will improve dramatically! B)

  10. Riaan, Daai fiets klink nie so lekker nie! Miskien so bietjie olie op daai brieke sit
  11. You can also ask at the water points if they have ekstra water to rinse the chain, but dont use to much otherwise I (sweep bike ) will suffer when I pass the wp. I only moved down to the Cape earlier this year so chain lube is still a lottery to me as well, but I will be riding with a small bottle of Finish Line wet lube on Sunday.
  12. I had to do a service on both my hubs as well as bb after Gravel travel. I also need a new chain. You can change your MTB race into a trail run but that's about it. Pack a small chain lube and rinse the chain at a tap (if available) or after a water crossing. I had some serious issues cleating in and out later in the race!
  13. En ek het so lekker chain suck gehad by die Gravel travel van al daai modder. Nogsteeds beter as om by huis te sit
  14. Just have to remember to pack the chain lube as well!
  15. I love water crossings! They create excellent photos
  16. 3 slices of Woolworths Low GI brown bread with some Apricot jam 4 Apples All consumed during the day And two bananas on my way to the gym
  17. Well I am talking under correction but I think that Affies already has a cycling club. But I will try to find out more. I'm sure having more school clubs is a step in the right direction in identifying more talent. But then again, if we identify more talent that will mean that I move down more on the overall results Will PM you to find out more as soon as I get my facts straight.
  18. Mayby I will do that. Let this "oud Affie" go and show the "Boys High Laaities" how to ride their track
  19. I wonder if the course is open to the public to ride or was this a once off for the race only? This could add some excitement to one's training rides. Even willing to pay a entry fee if they maintain the route.
  20. I agree. Here I'm posting my 6th post since Sept 2011. It will take me forever to get to 200!
  21. Oh No!!! I'm going home to check mine NOW!!!
