  1. Isnt everything over priced these days. New and second hand items. Cars, phones everything. I work in construction as a quantity surveyor and see quite regularly how much clients get over charged for work. If one looks at what an item cost to manufacture and what the end product is sold for you can just imagine the markups on some of these items. As for items sold on the hub. Well I have listed 2nd hand items in very good condition on the hub for a third of the new price just to be offered half of the listed price in the end, so I think a lot of people compensate for that by going in with a high price and hope someone pays them a fair price in the end.
  2. Looks like Mannie Heymans at 1:26
  3. But on the Advendurance website it indicates early bird entries close on the 18th August.
  4. The fact that you are competitive does not make you a "sad" person. The fact that your get pissed off because someone flagged your ride makes this a sad case in my eyes. See it as a challenge and do the ride again, better your time even further and leave it there. The last thing people want to hear is how many KOM's you have and how great a 29er is.
  5. Because they have their own virtual podium. We can't see it
  6. Just out of interest sake. How much faster were you than the second person on the leader board. If you were way faster then your ride might look suspicious and thus get flagged. I personally know of people that drove segments with their car just to get a KOM (NOW THAT IS SAD!!!), but that is how serious some people take getting KOM's.
  7. Why go through all the trouble. Just go to the segment and flag everybody in the top 10's ride.
  8. If you want to be that competitive: Get an A seeding, Get a personalised number plate, get quads like Quadzilla, get to the finish first and stand on the podium have pictures taken of you and then nobody can flag you. Sure it's not nice if someone flags your legitimate ride but dont let that ruin the sport for you.
  9. I cant help but think how Strava has promoted unsafe riding on roads. If you look at some segments in town it is clear that you will need to jump robots/stop signs to keep a high enough avg to take KOM's I think its a great way of staying motivated but I do think that people take it to seriously.
  10. I think this is the tread your looking for. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/125808-chinese-carbon-thread/
  11. My brother just got his racing licence. As far as I know you need a racing licence to race with the elites in races. If you dont have that licence you will race only open seeded.
  12. Mayby he was busy placing a obstacle in your path so that you have to stop and then you can be bike jacked
  13. Better yet. Make an appointment with a cycling coach who can do the nessacerry fitness tests and work out your threshold etc and let them work out a training regime. Tell them what races you want to do and they will incorporate that into your training.
  14. Thank you! Wanted to post this as well. Nothing that irritates me more than people driving with their fog lights on. Most people's fog lights dont get adjusted correctly either thus they shine directly into oncoming driver's eyes. I have fitted two nice BIG spotlights to my bakkie. I shall now fight light with more light and then you can feel how I feel. I find that people using their fog lights are more of an hazard to me than people with low visibility lights because fog lights blind me to a point where I have to squint or look away totally. I hate those fogging lights!
  15. Hahaha. Ok!
  16. Are you sure your times are correct. Because the winning time on Trailseeker 1 was 2:18:56 by Nico Bell and Trailseeker 2 was 2:44:55 by Johann Rabie. If your times are correct it means you should be the winner of the Marathon distance. In that case you should be seeded in A
  17. Well its easy to check. The formula they seem to use is your 3 best indexes divided by 3. Those ase very quick times you have there. Are they for the marathon distance or the shorter distance. I think you should stay in the same batch as your last race.
  18. Damm, wanted to say I beat you at Cullinan but you have a valid excuse and I see that everyone got a 100 seeding at Trailseeker 1, even Nico Bell so that cant be right otherwise I demand they take my picture with him on the top step of the podium
  19. Weird. I check my seeding index and it shows 39.27. Check my buddies index and then check mine again and its changed to 46.15 I also see that I have entered and finished the 60km Sondela mtb race (Which i didnt) Trailseeker 1 I had a good time and got a 100 seeding index Trailseeker 2 I had a horrible time and got a 40 seeding index
  20. Oops. Think this part was supposed to be posted in the Trailseeker tread
  21. Gee why dont we just go and kill each others dreams. At least he is willing to go and try. He asked for advice not negative comments. I wonder how many guests visit the Hub looking for advice but is to scared to actually join and ask in fear of being shot down and taken the piss out of. What is worse? Trying to achieve your goal and not getting there or NOT trying and regretting it for the rest of your life. Me thinks the world will be a much better place if we support and motivate each other instead of demanding that all the single track belong to you. So stop whining about the slow 9yo sharing the track with you and cheer him/her on when you pass them. Even you will feel much better afterwards.
  22. Brilliant goal! Go for it I'm sure you will have all of the Hub's support.
  23. As said before and that will be the best advice is to have fun. If the fun stops then it becomes work and who likes to work...............not me. I am suppose to be working now but cant stop thinking about my weekends ride!
  24. I had a better video but cant find it now. But this I do plenty of.
