I have been commuting from Hout Bay to Paarden Eiland for the last 6 years using the infamous Myciti bus lane. Thankfully (not quite sure how) I have not had any major incident yet... Over those 6 years the number of shacks running down the stretch from PE to Woodstock has increased 2fold. I now see a lot more 'movement' at the Woodstock bridge and feel my time is near....

Aren't tbe Stomers playing their Heineken Championship quarter final tomorrow @4pm. Maybe double up on events while there....

Interesting to hear. I have had 2 cuts where Stans has sealed, but when I pump over 4bar the hole re-opens. So I am running at 4bar until I have saved up for another TL tyre!

On my daily commute section between Town - Paarden Eiland on the bus lane, I passed 7 police cars strategy placed. Good to see. Also feels like a few more cyclists using this route again.

I only ride on the bus lane due to my safety concerns. Always on the look out for the buses and give them a wide berth where possible.

I am looking at purchasing the Vitus Energie Carbon CR Rival from CRC. (Looks like a very good deal!) I see the cost to deliver to SA is 200 pounds more from delivering to UK. From the above advice I can then add another +- 35% for customs, VAT and duties. That totals to an additional R11 000. Am I better off just to fly to the UK for less and bring back my 'used' bike. Coming from the UK, I would incur no other real costs!

Long shot I know! I think I left my orange Bell sweep helmet with my Garmin 310xt inside on the picnic bench outside the Jonkershoek Cafe. I have phoned both the Cafe and Gate with no success. Just heard someone on CapeTalk radio mention that yesterday as he was cycling into Hout Bay from Constantia side at 5.30am, just past the grave yard, 5 guys came out onto the road and tried to hijack him. He got hit on the head, but managed to divert to the other side of the road, and due to his speed managed to escape. Please be aware.
