  1. @RobynE 🚵‍♀️ thanks man appreciate! 👍 A Quick Backstory on How This All Came Together… We usually plan our tours well in advance, but this one came about pretty spontaneously, and sometimes they end up being the best. Two weeks ago, while guiding a group of existing clients on a West Coast tour, I got chatting with one of the farm owners (a fellow cyclist, of course). That conversation led to something special, they offered up their private land and lodge for us to host an event. Their farm is usually used by family over weekends, so the window was short but when the 26–29 June slot opened up, we grabbed it! We know about the Trailseeker event, but you are spot on the target market is very different. The idea is simple: take a small group out to experience their pristine property, ride the incredible singletrack they’ve built, and enjoy the hospitality. Make memories so we can share that experience with more riders in the future. The farm is beautifully maintained by a dedicated team, the lodge manager is a cyclist himself, and yes… there’s even a full-time chef on site. So expect to ride hard, relax well, and eat very well 😁 But like I said in the OP it is not a race you ride the way you want to. If people like it which I know they we will negotiate for more dates later in the year and share that in advance so that people can plan ahead. The price I just have to say is a give-away for what you get. Proper value for money. Some videos below. 3. Lekker thanks man appreciate 👍
  4. Hi @Jbr checking did you go on Sunday and what was the outcome please?
  5. Thanks @SURFER much appreciated.
  6. Thanks @Hairy and @Jbr So must the ID docs be certified or not required? I want to get a bulk once of permits completed for people on their behalf as part of a MTB tour and would like to make the least number of trips as possible to the Koeberg office.
  7. OK happiness thank you for your prompt answer. Much appreciated.
  8. Hi Guys checking I see it was asked before by Jbr. Once you have gone through the admin of getting the paperwork completed.....can you collect the permits on behalf of someone or do they physically need to be there for the collection? Then just confirming you have to go there twice? Once to collect paperwork and then another time to submit with all the supporting requirements? Do you get the permits when you hand in the paperwork, or do you have to go there a 3d time? No way to download the forms or does someone maybe have a copy please? OK ignore the above paragraph in bold think I found the form and the answer to my when do you get the permits question (48 hours afterwards). Is it the one that I attached here? Thanks in advance. 2025 CAF.pdfKoeberg-Private-Nature-Reserve_OCA-NEW-FORM-November-2022.pdf
  9. My first ride since 1993 so don't know what to compare it to. Collected my race pack this morning was well organized no issues or long qeues even parking was a breeze right next to the stadium. Was very busy though (to be expected) and lots to look at and shop with plenty specials and discounts at most of the stands/kiosks. On top of it it was a stunning day will be nice if Sunday can be similar. 😃
  10. Sorry missed your comment. So are the flies local residents or was it because of me? 😇🤣 Definitely a jackal. 👍🏻
  11. My first outing to Hoogekraal this morning. Thanks for the friendly chats and advice from various groups of riders and sharing trial knowledge. Didn't get any names but you know who you are. Highlight of the ride was when I exited the donga on the way down to the river there was a jackal running parallel with me in the field for quite a while. Note to self: Start early to avoid the heat. 😅
  12. I use the cycle path in Table View few times per week/month joining mostly from Netcare Blaauwberg to Milnerton lighthouse. Only once ventured as far as Paarden Island and definitely not planning to do so either based on common sense and the advice given here. Pity though but it is what it is. Yesterday morning the stretch from Dolphin Beach to the Engen garage by Sunset Beach looked like the aftermath of a New Years eve party in Hatfield square 25 years ago. I have never seen so much broken glass on that stretch ever before. My first thought was that it comes from cars throwing out bottles after partying in town (yes it happens and I have seen it myself in Parklands and Sunningdale) but when I took a closer look the glass was not spread in a pattern like you would expect from a bottle travelling at speed. It was definitely placed there with intent and normally it will only be on the one side of the path but yesterday there were multiple places where it spanned the entire path. No way around it. There is always glass on that stretch and there are a few "hotspots" where vagrants stay that have a bit more trash as well but I just felt like it was deliberate sabotage to force a puncture and then yes the normal modus operandi will follow after that. Going there and back I was surprised that I did not see anyone with a puncture luckily and for the first time other cyclists warned me from the opposite direction/s about the glass. Maybe I’m just spoilt spending around 2 weeks in Prince Albert with my Dad cycling the Karoo and then coming back here I don’t know. What also crossed my mind is that seeing there are fewer cyclists going past Paarden Island maybe the target area is starting to move where there is more traffic and opportunity now. Also makes sense (never used to before) why I see so many cyclists using the R27 as opposed to the actual cycle path. Another risk of its own that. I do have to say that there are often cleanups taking place on the cycle path so kudos for that. It takes one vagrant though to make a barn fire on the cycle path and turn it into a mess again. Just thought I will share…take it easy on that stretch and be vigilant.
  13. I cycled to the gate last week from the Duynefontein side and tried via that entrance. Security guard had no clue what I was talking about even when I showed him the notice you guys shared here. Haven't phoned the number yet.
  14. Yes thank goodness I was about to crap all over them on social media.
