  1. Can do alcohol online for delivery, but only 3 bottles at a time. Also found a biltong supplier online!
  2. Sadly my Italian mistress is stuck. All by herself in Sydney. These are being cleaned and tuned and cleaned and tuned and cleaned and tuned... at least we do get to go for road rides in the mornings, but only no bunches and so. Bit like IRONMAN rules really... My daughters very custom Ibis My guilty pleasure Yeti SB55 with Di2 My new toy Rona the gravel-grinder This thing is insane fun, difference between being on the mountain and being on the couch some days! My wife’s e-bike Spez something or other. My smartest purchase ever! Now she comes out with me and chases me around on my morning rides, both road and gravel (sans the basket). Means I can get a proper workout AND she comes along, winning! The family missing their skinny carbon buddy
  3. “The last thing he wanted” Well named, it is the last thing you want to watch.
  4. Numbers are too grainy to see, but one of those SAA 747s could be Zs-SAS, ie Helderberg. She was commissioned into SAA 1980, crashed ‘87.
  5. Bit of a complicated story here. I commute between Sydney and Auckland, so I keep my roadie in Sydney on a trainer. When the lockdown became virtually certain I decided to get something cheap to put on my trainer here and I found these new Spez SirrusX at my local bike shop. As it turns out the frames are actually really nice, so I did a bit of upgrading. Groupset, handlebars and pedals and voila. She is probably the most comfyride I have ever owned! Her name is Rona.
  6. When I was in the Navy, 1992-2000, I got to know Maj John Balladon, one of the pilots, and also sailed regattas with one of the WO engineers who was on Pelican 16. Fantastic guys, both deeply saddened by the loss of that beautiful plane, and extremely grateful for the skill of the pilot who landed her.
  7. Great call Wayne, same same from me.

    Who remembers?

Lion man at Mabalingwe. Fantastic route.
  11. That sucks completely.
  12. Sorry folks, New Zealand is now closed till further notice... I commute to Sydney weekly and it was touch and go which side I was going to get caught! Fortunately turns out to be the side with my family in it.
  13. Perhaps a Rutan Varieze? https://lmgtfy.com/?q=rutan+varieze
  14. One of my favorite places is the Boeing factory in Everett, north of Seattle. The tour is absolutely amazing and the scale is off the charts. The single assembly hall is 1km long and 500m wide, all under a single roof! Highly recommended if you are ever in the area. Also Boeing field, where they do refurbs and upgrades AND has a really mind blowing museum.
  15. How about up North? Whangarei is lovely and so is the coast around Tutukaka
  16. How about a “let’s talk about pets” thread and we can let this one get back the cool stuff?
  17. Put a kickstand on it.
  18. When we get a bit ahead of ourselves... JATO Landing https://www.military.com/video/aircraft/military-aircraft/top-secret-c-130-with-rocket-boosters/912500478001
  19. Actually it behaves exactly the same for the entire speed curve, except that it doesn’t stop assisting when it gets to the old upper limit. That means that it makes zero difference on the trail, BUT is very useful when I use it around town. I don’t, in fact, have a need for either a motorbike, nor your approval. Enjoy your Levo.
  20. soooooooooooo... there I was wondering about the arbitrary speed restrictions on my Levo. And then if found this little gem! Fitted it this morning and got over 50km/h! Cutoff used to be 32km/h. Now the limiter is gearing and the cadence I can maintain. https://planet3.bike/
  21. Use a vault app like Masterpass, keep copies of passports, licenses, latest utility bills in pdf in it. That way, should you need it... Saved my ass when we took the wrong(expired) passport to the airport before a trip. Agent was bale to check us on, and it gave me time to storm home to fetch the right one. Used a utility bill from vault yesterday to collect cash someone had sent to my daughter at a forex bureau. You can even have the app remind you to update it every 3 months.
  22. The Righteous Gemstones on HBO. Watched the whole series (9 episodes) on 2 flights. I laughed so hard that people around me thought i was having a fit.
  23. Yup and a beautiful peaceful campground. Walking and mtb trails are separate and marked (and the horse trails also). Facilities are basic, loo and water only, place is heavenly.
  24. Hey Wayne! The area is the Mangatawhiri reserve at Hunua. The trails are nicely marked and the one you want is the Valley track. It is dirt road and dual track all the way and about 15km. There is one little detour through a small river that may require a short walk, but even that is very pretty. The Mumukai Farm track is the one with some great single track, but quite twisty and steep, and can get technical so keep that for when you want to have a bit of single track fun. The River track, yeah nah... I’ve been out there 3 times this last week and the place is in great shape. Enjoy it!
  25. Coppermine trail, Nelson NZ
