  1. Never thought it but totally true. Most of the savages can't swim so you're safe out there. Just don't leave anything on the beach for the animals.
  2. And for anyone with even half a brain that should be more than enough reason to wear one. The bike hire spots on Durban beachfront do not insist on helmets but then they do make you sign waivers so what do they care. I do not expect anyone to look out for my wellbeing. I do it myself. I also look to set an example for my kids. Stupid insisting they always wear helmets if I don't.
  3. Surely this makes little sense? How can you talk about his maximum heart rate on one hand and then talk about him going over it? Surely if he did go over it then that presumed maximum is not his maximum?
  4. Why do you wear baggies over bib shorts? What is the reason for the baggies?
  5. I did wonder about this. I have been reading that the ES25 Octalink is sealed so not sure if it will be an issue?
  6. MCipollini, if I'm not mistaken mine is the ES25 Octalink. The bike gets cleaned regularly but as stated the signs of rust started after only a few weeks. Grebel, I'll invest in a tin of Q20 I reckon. Was just interested in whether this is normal which I suppose it would be with a steel bottom bracket, especially in Durban.
  7. My bike is totally rust free except for a section of the bottom bracket. Even after the first few weeks of riding this area already showed some rust like discolouration. It has not got particularly bad but it definitely shows signs of rust (image link below) So my question is whether this is normal (on cheaper components that is) and how I can go about preventing it getting too bad too quick? Thanks https://www.dropbox.com/s/kbqeuraqnlgwjvm/20121017_193809.jpg
  8. Best we look out for spammers now though. We already had one sneak through with the accepting required. As it was I think you found most requests being accepted rather quick by one of the many admins.
  9. Apparently I know nothing but I mentioned this concern in a previous nutrition thread. https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?/topic/120252-recovery-shakes#entry1771603 I would welcome some legislation in this regard. Many frown on banned substances yet merrily throw back these nutritional drinks / shakes.
  10. That's what I did and got ridiculed plenty. Still think it is the right way.
  11. Yes. Remember though that joggers are obviously regarded as pedestrians and are hence bound by those rules. Cyclists are classified as vehicles. I'm not a fan of this as I often consider myself a "pedestrian" and would much rather ride on the sidewalk in residential areas than take on the cars.
  12. Yip, as mentioned I could just say "hi" and it would get the back of some folk up. Baggage should be left in the thread where it came from and not carried over from one thread to another over and over and over...
  13. T That is a simple thing to achieve on here. All I need to do is pop into a thread and say "hello" and a group of folk will find fault with the way I said it and attack
  14. Apologies but I must report this and not respond in kind as requested. It is not my way but it seems like the only way.
  15. Where does that come from suddenly? All I asked was for you to elaborate on what you meant earlier. You then chose to play some silly little game instead of merely doing so. I am interested in what you meant by your comment. I at no point indicated that I felt it was directed at me but I do find it rather interesting that you now jump to that conclusion... Tell us what you meant and we can all move on. Who is this one stupid person that you refer to, that we should all probably know about, that stops at green lights?
  16. There is a really SIMPLE solution, which admin was even kind enough to remind everyone of, STOP playing the individual and focus on the topic.
  17. The idea of a forum is to communicate ideas, thoughts and opinions to others. If you have one then you should make it apparent to those others. If you have something to say, then say it. If you do not have the courage to stand by your convictions then perhaps you are better off leaving it unsaid.
  18. By my maths that has only been 5 working days
  19. Yeah, ok, thought as much...
  20. Same question applies. Care to elaborate?
  21. Here is my rather pleasant experience : https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/120442-chain-reaction-cycles-experience/page__view__findpost__p__1775148 Two packages, orders placed 26/08/2012, both received 10/09/2012. 10 working days. Standard delivery paid for. One arrived via Royal Mail the other via ParcelForce.
  22. Care to elaborate?
  23. I am aware exactly what the thread was about but you asked a question about who stops at green lights and you specifically added "if it is unsafe to proceed". The answer is an obvious one really. In hindsight it is quite apparent that it was a leading question and your intention all along was to get argumentative about it. Actually I'd say not at all. Once again your logic is bizarre. It IS NOT illegal to be cautious at a green robot and even yield if there is a necessity to do so. In fact, without looking up the relevant road act, I'd actually assume it is encouraged. And point one and two have something in common that you seem oblivious to. Both are a means of ensuring your OWN safety. I'm not going to assume someone is going to stop at a red light coming from the other direction and then regret it afterwards when they don't and I'm dead!
  24. The most bizarre logic I have ever heard. So if I approach a green robot in my car and there has been an accident that blocks the entire middle of the intersection I must just keep driving as I am obligated to obey the green light? Or if I can clearly see that someone is about to shoot the red from the other direction, I must still just go and not stop? Notice how I used the word yield and you kindly threw yield/stop into your response.
  25. I always yield at a green light just to make sure the cars coming the other way are indeed stopping/stopped. There is only one person who is going to take responsibility for your own safety, and that's you.
