  6. Thank you to all the cyclists that participated, we had an awesome day out on the motorcycles. An absolute pleasure and honour to look after you on the road. We had 30 Marshals out on the route, some leading and some doing patrols, we are privilaged to have helped those that was involved in some crashes, as well as giving assistance fixing a flat tyre, or helping with some water. We had the EMPD Bike Squad with us at the race, thank you to Inspector Van Wyk and his team on the bikes assisting with the leading on the licensed bunches. A privilage to have worked with you once again. We hope to see you again at the "Berge en Dale" as well as the "Carnival City Macsteel Race." Thank you for all the kind words, I shall pass them along the the team. Jasper
  7. If you do not obey the traffic laws, you are part of the problem. If you do not respect first, how can you be respected? So many times I ask myself the question when seeing mother with children in their vehicles, not even secured in a child seat, and still breaking the traffic laws, what example they (we) are setting to our kids? Are we teaching them to respect by being the example, or are we teaching them to become as lawless as the rest, because everyone is doing it...??
  8. Was before the road was widened into a dubbel lane both directions probably.
  9. Thanks, will venture out there one morning.
  10. Agree, but I suspect that something happened in the intersection when the cyclist turned around to go back...
  11. What time they meet and where? Route? I live in that area, maybe we can get out there to add some visibility..
  12. EMS on the Scene, taken away by Ambulance. There were other cyclists standing around, a white bakkie arrived to take the bicycles and other cyclists away. Don't know what happened, anyone got more info?
  13. How can we help?? Marshaling is our business... info@roadrangers.co.za
  14. Guys, we are launching the Road Rangers on the 28th January 2012 with ER24EMS. The Purpose of he Road Rangers, Safety Marshals (Motorcycle Marshals) will be to look after the cyclists frequenting the Lido Route on a Saturday. There is normally two routes that is followed, a short 40km Loop, and a longer 90km route. The 40km route is a standard set loop with the 90km route being a combination of whatever the cycling group (leader) decide on the day. The Road Rangers will be active on these routes every saturday morning hence forth. We encourage the cyclists in the area to participate in the group rides, this will enable the Marshals to ensure your safety. The Road Rangers will also be active on the Race Events coming up for 2012, please engage with us from time to time to help us improve the service. The Road Rangers, ER24EMS service is totally free to those joining in, should you wish, a small donation towards the expenses of these chaps will be appreciated. ER24EMS will supply medical vehicles on the routes, so an easy call to 084 124 for immediate medical care will ensure we get personnel to you ASAP. The ride will start on the normal spot, Corner of Swartkoppies and Kliprivier Roads. The ride normally start at 07:00 during summer. On the 28th January 2012 we plan to have the media involved with some other goodies taking place. Branding will be up on the spot, and we will basically be taking over the intersection during the launch. We hope that as many cyclist will be able to join us on the day, please spread the word amongst the hubbers.

  16. We are also very interested in joining a group ride in the Centurion Area. We are able to provide some Marshals for such an ride provided it can be on Saturday mornings. We are currently Marshaling the Alberton South Lido Route every Saturday, would like to start the same for PTA. We are willing to provide Motorcycle Marshals and a Response Vehicle for such free of charge to the cyclists.
  17. Ws our second time we Marshaled this race. Thanks to the cyclists, we tried a route patrol scenario in stead off riding with the groups. It worked out well. The Limpopo Motorists was also very accommodative, thanks to them for being patient. We had not one incident.
  18. We are saddened by this tragic news, we pray for the families during this very difficult time. Please accept our condolences. We encourage the cyclist in the Alberton area to try and accompany the Road Rangers, Safety Marshals every Saturday morning. This Motorcycle group has been active in this area for the last 18 or so months. There is an 40km Marshaled ride starting from the Klipriver, Swartkoppies Road Intersection at 07:00. We do the Lido group. The Marshals also accompany the longer riders from time to time, but is a bit difficult with the group splitting up. The Marshals are deeply touched by this and we want to work with the cycling community in this area to try and make the routes even safer. Once again, Heartfelt condolences to those left behind.
