  1. I don't buy from this shop often enough to warrant any difference to their turn over, but from their lack of reply, I definitely wont be buying anything their until this is cleared up We all spend a lot of cash on bikes, not keen on being sold a fake at a genuine or even grey price Good luck Andrew, thanks for heads up
  2. Agree with both points: Louis didn't like TSA getting involved two years ago (similar debacle) and Louis ALWAYS does a good race, all bases covered. Even his intro into Rockman this year was brilliant As usual, TSA tried to use their "clout" to get Louis to buckle to whatever they wanted, and it didn't work. Think TSA need to evaluate what their role is in triathlon...haven't heard a single story in ages where they actually made a positive difference. Sure this sport can continue and get bigger without their involvement to be honest
  3. Sounds strange you cant tension it? Do you have a horizontal drop out at the back? If so then adjust the screws backwards If not, you might have an eccentric BB, then you need to tension the BB with the eccentric arrangement - difficult to explain, but this link may help - pretty generic for all EBB's http://www.adventuretravel.ch/typo3/uploads/media/Anleitung_Kettenjustierung.pdf I don't use the special tools, make do with what ever leverage tools I get my hands on I also had this clicking noise, narrowed it down to one of two things: either I was putting too much torque in on the hills (running 36-18 on 29") or the main connecting chain link was catching every few revolutions as it was a little loose Never had any issues with my SS chain though and elongation, those chains are hardy
  4. Very cool race, the flatness of the MTB route very deceiving when that much mud thrown into. One of the few races I almost DNF'ed! Very well organized I feel, just need wash bay next time As far as Ultras go, this is one of the toughest ones I have done, was a proper test. Next time though: wont be using a single speed Water points well spaced, well demarcated routes throughout, good organization with lifeguards and all post race facilities great Will be back next year
  5. Most certainly worth it if you not getting a tri bike. Aero wise dramatic difference, also just the ability to change position to give different parts of body a rest so you are fresh for the run Would go as far as saying if its your first IM, its a must. Clip ons are relatively cheap in comparison to a new bike. If budget allows, a better saddle is next upgrade to consider with a good bike setup
  6. A little far to travel for short distances, but looks cool. If I am in those parts of town at the time, will see about late entry
  7. Any idea of route profile on the bike? Only have a 29" SS rigid. Anything to compare bike leg to?
  8. Belindas You've obviously entered the race, and done some hill training as you in the south. Its worse than comaro, not as bad as Suikerbos. But you want to finish, so just HTFU, you will finish. Depends on how fast you want to do it Advice? You will hurt, you will be tired, and you will hate it Grit it It'll be the quickest and most testing experience you do. But you will love it Trust me

    TriRock Durban

With all the doubt from the previous thread, asked a few questions through people in DoT for KZN: Unofficially they know of and have approved the road closures for the race, and the lady I spoke to who issues the permits says she cant see any reason for the permit to be cancelled. Like I said, unofficial, but that's good enough for me
  10. Ha! Still have your bike nerd...it works a dream! Maybe in a few months we can swop out... Peadar - I can vouch for the GT 29er, its one of my favourite bikes to mess around with, although still getting used to the rigid frame. But the satisfaction of dropping guys on geared bikes on hills is worth it The 26er...rather look for a 29er if you can, much better. EBB/chain tightening and gear changes can be done in less than 5 minutes, and its a solid bike
  11. Will be my 3rd, aiming for 5:45 minimum
  12. Heavy days JGR, that is plenty serious enough to cancel any race for. Fingers crossed it isnt anything like that Good luck mate, hope the news is good

    TT-Saddle

Used the Adamo road seat for my tri bike, found it took one or two rides and then was perfect. Didn't try the tri-saddle though, some reckon it wasn't as comfortable as the road one. But I found it great for IM
  14. Entered for the full also as a 70.3 "cool down" and a bit of fun for a change! Next question: who's joining me on a SS??
