  5. hmmmm....this is not good news when it comes to safety!!!! i actually did the expected 'detour' route from endinburgh dr. (if it happens) yesterday and included boys drive.....and that last section has some bumps as well....going to be a nightmare i can see a crash there causing delays

  7. this is the first time i'm going to be upgrading/changing groupset parts so i'm not sure wot works with wot or not.... Brakes - i assume it does not matter which brakes u use with which STI's? STI's - do u need a 105 9 speed STI with 105 derailuers? speaking of deraileurs...do 8,9,10 speed front & rear deraileurs differ? Crank - can you mix a DA crank with 105 F & R deraileurs? p.s. pls excuse my lack of knowledge
  8. the guys motorists moan about prob aint on the forum anyway....
  9. ...so plan your ride in a south-westerly direction
  10. ...and the wind only gets worse in the afternoon. i made the mistake of cycling last week in the evening for a "recovery" ride...aint no such thing as easy into a howling south-easter today however was an awesome day...enjoyed the ride with almost NO wind
  11. save the heavy grinding for the hills...keep the cadence up for the flats if it was your coach telling u this for a specific reason, then listen...else who cares!
  12. i used to ride at around 90 cadence but these days i'm closer to 100, but i've trained specifically to up my cadence in the hope of increasing my endurance. dont know if thats a logical approach or not
  13. i like the gradient profiles....
  14. there was a few old times for ou kaapse weg & red hill (looked at w cape only)
  15. came across this website...not sure how old/new it is http://www.cycle2max.com/bike-hill-climb/hill-climb-time-trials.aspx is there any other site with our SA climb times?
  16. if i remember correctly, our deed of sale said ex vat...or that was on the contract with the agent
  17. very nice
  18. i cannot say conclusively... i did the West Coast Express and avg'd 32km/h....started S or something with my brother Nov was in an accident and was off the bike for just over 2 weeks then had a bad luck Die Burger with my bro getting 2 flats and he dropped out the groups so i had to wait for him (returning the favour of last year) and thats all the rides i did...the rest has been training ridesandre_ct2008-12-23 03:45:19
  19. hehehe sunday i saw the daikin boys going up ou kaapse...i was driving though... the guys were pretty spread out...looked like it was a hard training session
  20. @SwissVan - we do have varied routes, but i've never been one to stick to one thing only during training...maybe the time has come @ComeBack - i do i do i'm going for that 30km/h avg i've done very little PPA rides, but come 2009 i'll be doing most of them...i'm hoping that is when i will see the results
  21. now thats wot i wanted to hear but seriously, when i look at my training log i see an alomst constant avg...which makes me wonder if i have hit a 'plateau'
  22. Just wanted to know...how much does your avg speed from training rides differ from racing? i do most of my training with my brother (60 - 85km) where i do 90% of the work. i'm trying to gauge where i am fitness wise now we consistently avg around 29km/h and we do the southern suburb routes i.e. constantia nek, main road, redhill, ou kaapse weg
