  1. i would like them to compensate for me a new bike! i'll check the real damage of the bike tomorrow. i didnt handle the bike after the incident, but i know the back wheel is buckled big time, and we couldnt get the wheel off. the jockey was hanging all over the place not sure if the frame can be knocked right. is that wise to even try???
  2. i've taken pics of my injuries...will do the bike once i have the ability to take it our of the car
  3. yip i reported it.... a police van passed their minutes after it happend as well and i gave them the car details....they then went looking in the direction i must drop off the medical report by saps tomorrow thx for the heads up about the RAF claiming.
  4. so my saturday started off at 5am as usual and left home around 5.30 to the southern suburbs....wind and all, it was a good ride and i was feeling great, even taking some pics of simonstown from redhill...anyway, 135kms later and i'm 2km from home in parklands and i cross one of the two circles in the area....BAM!!! i get taken out by an idiot who did not yield or stop when entering the circle from my left. he then proceeded to speed away, but not before i got his registration i am so lucky that he more hit my rear wheel and frame, but my left leg also took a hit. needless to say i went flying but am thankful that i could walk away from the incident relatively ok now i have no bike, and my 1st attempt at the DC seems gone with the wind i'm all drugged up now, but with the pain i am in, i think i'm out. and of course tomorrow morning i'll feel even worse! the car was a red Ford Sierra with licence plate VKJ268NC. i did not get a look at the occupants i am pretty sure i got the plate right, but am not sure about the NC part. a witness said it was nothern cape plates...do u get NC plates? i thought i saw EC though so if anyone in my areas spots this car please let me know...it's a long shot but worth a try

  12. just got a call from my bro now, and he noticed he got a broken spoke in his rear wheel....BAD timing for tomorrow's WCE ride not sure when it broke, but i dont suppose he should ride like that? i got an old wheel here...so will it be compatible with his gearing or wot? .... it's a 7 speed...he has an 8 speed shimano rsx he's gonna see if he can replace the spoken from another wheel tho

  16. The question i'd now like to ask is....am i on track REALISTICALLY..... with the not so great weather recently, i've trained where possible. i have no doubt i'll be ready for the DC, but which team i should be in is my concern.... there's a 'racing' [6:30 target] and social team [prob 8hrs target] but i think i'm gonna be in the middle of the require fitness levels at the moment i'm training between 70-100kms, having done a 76km ride in 2h45 on wednesday by myself.... there is a scheduled 110km ride for tomorrow, so i'll see how the legs feel after that, but i know that i got a bit of climbing work to do still realistically, do i have enuff time to get fit enuff for a 6:30 time? and i dont just want to be hanging on for the 200kms and not be able to work
  17. not that i am particularly fussy about the weight issue, but how much extra does gatorskinz weigh?
  18. hey all so i'm looking to replace my tyres... i've been looking for something that is more puncture resistant as well. been looking at getting the continental gatorskins (R290)... worth it? i've been told that it's a soft tyre and i should stick with the maxxis tyre/cheaper tyre and put a liner in there opinions?
  19. prob a holdfast...3 bikes

  21. hi all so i've committed to riding my 1st double century this year...but i'm a bit unsure as to how to go about my training my usual is to train alone starting out at +-45kms when totally unfit and move to 60km and then 75km. adding more hills the fitter i get. i was never a fan of LSD rides but i guess i need to come to love it now? anybody got some suggestions of a 3 month training plan for me? probably need to look at being ready for a 7hr time
