Broke my wrist there on Saturday - and just when I was really enjoying myself!! I have a date for mid Feb now
  4. I'm very miffed with myself - cos if I could have climbed back on and finished the ride I wouldn't be dealing with confidence issues either at the end of my six weeks. Had also got myself to a fair level of fitness and having just done H&B knew where I needed to improve. Had also just gone for a proper bike fit and felt really good and strong. Sorry just ranting (let's not talk about the weekends plans either ) I will take it easy and when the pain subsides will start slow and not take any chances
  5. Riiiight so I can't fly.... I tried and I failed Will be six weeks in the cast so was thinking walking on the treadmill and LSD on a spin bike - want to do this in a gym cos of the aircon as I don't think I want to work up too hectic a sweat as it will be a fixed cast ( think eeuw factor...) Any one else had same issue and can offer some advice please? Fanx
  6. I did look at the road and barrier and wondered and i wasn't sure if a bike could do that - maybe they could. Will be honest and say i could not see the marshall and if he did wave them thru or not. If it is the case then i do get the going up part - but they definatley couldn't do it on the down. I'm on chappies again sunday so will suss it out again. So for now no pics - not fair if the cyclists were in the right.
  7. Don't know how 2 upload pic from a Rasberry 2 the Hub BUT I will when I get infront of a PC. White Specialized (now don't be mean) road bike with red wrapped bar tape, rider wearing a sleeveless blue shirt with Bianchi on the back and white helmet. His buddy was in turquoise but did see what bike he was on - my bus didn't catch up to him.
  8. So today while waiting in a queue to enter the stop and go at the start of Chappies I watch 2 Cyclists jump the queue and proceed up the road that is still open to oncoming traffic - basically driving head on to cars approaching - both on road bikes (have pic of one guy) I'm mean really that stretch is so narrow - how unfair to the cars!!! Have also heard reports of cyclists being rude to the road work guys stopping the traffic and ignoring them and continueing down despite traffic oncoming.
  9. Thanx - A Hubber (Naas) has already contacted me and arranged to see some stuff in Kenridge - nice quick work Service with a smile
  10. Hey any idea where in Cape Town (Northern subs preferably) I can find the Vermarc brand? Ideally a shop so I can see and feel and fit the items? Thanx

  13. Here's a difficult one - on one of the many driver safety, health and safety courses the drivers have to do - I think this one was specifically for the world cup - the drivers were told they have to hoot as they approach cyclists and pedestrians so as to warn them in advance. Do you know how often the get "flipped the bird" ? Most don't bother to warn anymore.

Isn't there something wrong if the brakes are screaming going UP?

  17. Be interesting to hear from Hubbers who do drive these big vehicles - altho most will obviously be extra aware of bikes. There is definatley 2 sides to these things. But now my "Facepalm" of the morning: Driving home on the N7 this morning - just past Dunoon - 4 Guys on Road bikes and in Kit bunched (2 2 and hugging)but within the yellow line and one of the guys closest to the line - NO HELMET
  18. I know this is probably done to death and usually its the cyclists bemoaning drivers BUT u guys (and I know most probably do) have to realise it is a very viscious circle. I am a tourguide and regularily drive Victoria drive and Chappies. WHY do cyclist insist on riding 2 and 3 abreast? And yes I will get shot for this but today it was the road bikes at fault. I'm on a large 44 seater coach today. The driver I note is very cautious around the cyclists and is giving them as wide as berth at he can. But to the lady in pink overtaking up victoria drive - PLEASE next time look before you swing out into the road - forcing my driver to swerve to avoid your. Coaches are long and heavy and wide and don't drive the way they do just to piss cyclists off. But unfortunatley as I said its a circle - u ride like an ass and I will drive like an ass... I see it every day and its sad So to the groups of bikes travelling up chappies 2 and 3 abreast- I know cycling is social and fun but please be a bit more considerate to the other road users who do do their best to give you the space they can.
  19. SwissVan do you reccomend a few attempts at hard breaking after a service to get thing "sitting nicely" even if its not necessary to stop with that amount of force?

  21. http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/221768/aspect-29-tour/ ok what about this one compared to the Talon?
  22. Ja - i just saw that - Bike shop got it wrong i see.... so now adds a new dynamic cos he wants a 29er and i don't know which of the Scotts it is...
  23. Mojoman the Magneeto is great. SW is ridiculously expensive - i saved 200 bucks at my LBS. I did fall badly and i ripped the sleeves. Sent them to FA for a repair and it looks like they were completely replaced at NO charge!! I have also slid down some ST on my front with no damage to the jacket so they are tough and FA's service is great. It is very water repellent but not totally waterproof. I will always have one i just want to find the waterproof options too.
