    Give it a TRI

Joined the Strava group, haven't done an event since 2015 UTI Cape Town. Getting my legs back and loosing weight. Where is the best website to get info on events? ndorfin looks a bit dormant. Will need to start on some shorter events for fun and motivation.
  2. Was there last year as a fitter fat bloke, now just a fat bloke. Will be there Sunday in my pretpakkie AKA Tri-agesuit
  3. 20-22 November is the legendary Eselfontein Fees. Watch out for the Friday night party it hurts when you reach Redbull Hill. They are starting the events earlier to try beat the worst heat.
  4. Finding shoes that work must be amazing!!!! I have a pair of Asic Trabuco, Salomon 3D. older Salomon wings and now Brookes Cascadia 9. They are also fitted with inserts made by Podiatrist. I struggle with heavy Compartment syndrome in my left leg. I cannot do more than 2 x 8km trail runs a week otherwise my legs will be busted for 5 days or more. Next step is surgery to relieve the pressure problems. Or stop running and just cycle, but what is the fun in that. Sometimes I think the shoes, cycling gear, and most sporting equipment associated with endurance sports are aimed at the 1.9m 75kg snakes. Ex Rugby no.2's and heavier build vertically challenged are not catered for.
  5. Just entered Impi Elite again.... CT#2 18 Oct. See me sitting on my cement brick on Elsenburg koppie swearing alot. I was built by God to play hooker and be used as a doorstop. Hills on a MTB or running destroys me. Who else is doing it?
  6. Thx. Yes just outside Ai-Ais.
  7. Same Tau from Wilddog that used to seriously ride motorcycles haha. As with motorbikes I enjoy riding solo and just making it up as I ride.
  8. My last ride in Namibia on Monday after coming home. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/junie%202_zpsbwftcwr2.jpg So a took a road down a valley that I knew exited on previous talks to other people. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/junie%205_zpsz8oihn50.jpg I rode some long sections of sandy tracks and decided to deflate seriously on the rear. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/junie%203_zpstbmhn3wc.jpg The road ended, but I wanted to go further into the valley. I just road along the river making my own rout and trying to stay on the harder spots of sand. I found Wild horse tracks and decided to follow for as far as possible. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/junie%201_zpsyj7d6qot.jpg However i ended-up far from the main road and in a valley that was littered with staal klippe and small cactus that I would destroy if I cycled over them. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/junie%204_zpsldkz8q45.jpg I punctured on the way out and realise I only had two mombs with me and plugs. I got home pushing up the hills and then inflated at the top and smashed down hills a lekker 20km ride alone and in remote areas with no human trails.

    MotoGP

Go VALE!!!!!!! He is not supposed to be running with these midget kids, but his passion keeps him competitive. Also being on the BLUE helps.
  10. Well done. You passed me 11:00 Sunday morning when I was hitting the 100km mark feeling really sorry for myself. However you looked super strong. It was my first 24hr event(team of 4) and I loved it. Doing a solo and the amount of laps you did is super human.
  11. I know the Wuppertal - Oasis section well....on a Motorbike. The Pass has been (Oct 2014) re-done and most of the climb is now concrete coming from Wuppertall towards Eselbank. The road is very sandy and loose as it has not seen much water. At least there is still enough water in the streams to fill your bottle. ENjoy!!
  12. OK not Today, but Saturday and Sunday. We camped in the Cederberg at Sandrif. Had a mate with who is from here, but works in Moz and now on holiday here .....ek weet deurmekaar. Anyway we did most of the single track around Sandrif and covered 55km. Loved it and my new Anthem SX is as good as I hoped. My mate has no helmet on as his head is covered in hair. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/IMG_7725_zpsecol32hp.jpg My Anthem at the back of Kalkoenfontein back to Lot's wife section. Loved the singletrack. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/IMG_7720_zpsnhihj5ep.jpg http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/IMG_7717_zpsofywpwil.jpg We found this not too far from the Wolfberg cracks turn-of. My mate runs a consetion in Moz and I am a ex Game ranger for SAN PArks. This was no small Leopard. http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i399/Anvilracing/IMG_7711_zps2ewnlvvh.jpg I am back for the entire Easter hoping to get some more riding in before I become old and die or just die.
  13. The weather prediction is looking better than last night. Some light rain now instead of the predicted 11mm for Saturday. Xterra light for me on Saturday. Excited to have a blast.
  14. Totally SS clueless so excuse. I have a 2009 Cannondale Prophet in Bare alu. Replaced it with a new Anthem SX. So I can sell it for R5000 if I am lucky, however was thinking with the lefty and really good brakes and new rear shock why not make it a SS for some trail riding. The problem with the Prophet has always been the front chainring setup, as it has a wider than standard BB so a single chainring front will relieve many of the problems. Q: Can you make a Dual bike a SS with the rear suspension pivot vs chain tension? What ratios do I use? Or is this a trial and error thing.
  15. I got an amazing deal with Giant Durbanville on a 2015 Giant Anthem SX 27.5. Fitted some Geax Tubeliss tyres and soft grips and bar-ends(horror). DId some SUPER tech riding on the 2012 Epic mountain section here in Tulbagh with the bike and loved it. Will be using it in the Cederberg on the weekend. I almost took the Standard Anthem 1, but my love for singletrack made me take the SX. The front suspension does work great and my 1.77m dutchman build fits beautifully on the Large Frame. The dropper seat is new to me, and coming front Motocross I am used to pinching the seat with my legs so dropping the seat is almost wrong, but I will get used to it.
  16. So after Oakvalley this weekend and my normal Eselfontein rides, i have decided/realised I am no race snake, but I still love pumping the single track and doing the odd Xterra or ADV race. I love single track riding, but still need a good(not the best XC bike) I think this will be my next bike. Yes my old bike(read very old) Cannondale Prophet has served me well, but she will be rested now. Anybody have one of these at home? Are they worth the R32K?
