Eish i did some loops in rhodes mem on said day around 5pm... it was very quiet.

That was super tough. No matter how much you reverse, you still have to get up 3000m ascend and the pumping wind made it even more tough. My training hasn't been amazing so wasn't expecting fireworks. The last 15km was painful and don't think I've been more relieved seeing a finished line. The heat was a non factor for me. The cumulative vert and the shots taken from the long descends makes this as hard a route on the calendar. The trails were amazing. Really really enjoyed the long descend after cliffhanger. Surprisingly grippy or it may just be my new rubber ☺️ Lessons for next year Never skip conditioning in training. Days like yesterday is where it'll really count in your favour. My body took an absolute hammering out there.🥴 Probably should've done at least 1 ride over 2000m (although i planned a couple that never happened) 😏 Dont skuil the wind in training, riding around in windless constantia isn't always the most beneficial. Kudos to finishers. That was fun yet brutal all together.

somewhat yes... I also recon the Imbuko route offers some decent shaded/foresty areas. Yes it will be hot out there but there are plenty on miles under tree cover for some respite.

I have the same view. Comparing apples with apples (racing on non closed roads), and last year's 99er and tour de ppa also had big numbers in $ and it was chaos. My view is not that okes can't handle their bikes (because they can) with these big racing bunches but because okes are willing to take crazy risks just to hold the wheel ahead. A big portion of the group also care nothing for the solid line. I dont think its the most responsible idea having such numbers in racing bunch. Hopefully I'm wrong and all goes well without incident 🙏
