  1. Well I am disappointed on two counts. 1. I just can't travel to SA at this point in time so will have to miss the race this year. 2. I got a start time of 8:50am. I don't think I ever started this late, even at my first race. But since I will not be participating, I don't know if it is worth fighting for it. I wrote them a mail, but if I get the same seeding next year, I think I'd rather save my money. I might give in of course as I might get a huge dose of FOMO otherwise....
  2. We did the "fun" race yesterday. I'm still trying to accept, that races (not XCO) in Europe are more open track, non technical and super super steep, and that I will be last. Enjoyed my ride, had a nice long chat with the broom wagon
  3. It's about to take me to SwissVan territory
  4. Starting 5min after you this year I for me and 6:51
  5. All set... A month of 5km a day =+/-100km
  6. I find his response sounds just like his excuse about the "sniper line" at Epic - absolutely disrespectful to his fellow racers and unsportsmanlike behavior. Never "sorry I was wrong". So he took whatever he took because he wanted to be healthy for his family. Fair enough but then why don't you stay away from racing? Seems he never thinks he did anything wrong.
  7. I saw somewhere that the Ride 4 Sight is going to be on the 14 Feb. It clashes with SA Champs. And somehow I think I might go to the beach to support instead of do the race. I always liked it. It was longer so a bit harder. But the first 50km go past in an hour Last time I did it I got taken out by some bozo at 10km so had to walk back to the start/finish and a dude stopped to give me a lift. Was a bit of a dilemma - do you get in....do you not..... I like Emperor's but I think it's an ASG event and I just can't afford those. Same as Berg and Dale. So maybe Carnival City and Fast One. I only entered the Fast One once and I dnf-ed. I started in the ladies bunch, got dropped and was left to ride with some older ladies. Shew....they make you work. Hardest 50km ever. So next time open bunch. Need some men to block the constant head wind
  8. It was my worst ride at 947. I did ok for the 1st 35km but after that it felt as if I didn't have a right leg. I think I was a bit uncomfortable on my saddle and was sitting on some nerve or something. Had no power at all, got a headache and my neck was super stiff. Zaskar did some serious amount of waiting. He could have shaved off a month of his race time if he didn't wait but he is a true friend. The last 3 weeks hadn't been great health wise and it showed. It got so bad I cheated in the last 12km and got pushed by Jules. You're welcome to flag my PBs on the last 3 hills I had a nice ice cream from a lady on Witkoppen. I think she was just a supporter on the route, wasn't at a waterpoint. Nice to see Anton again and to meet the other hubbers. Hope you achieved what you aimed for. I definitely didn't but next year.....always next year. Yellow number next year as well so extra motivation
  9. See you guys Sunday!
  10. I have a range of 94.7 results from my best 2:57 in 2008 to my worst 3:56 in 2011. Last year was 3:41. I cannot say what my PB is I've had a few sub 3 results but it's been mostly flattish races like Bela Bela and Emperor's. My 94.7 results clearly show what kind of year I have had. When it's not a good one I'll do 3:30 or so. When I've ridden a good amount my result will be around 3:15. In 2013 I was probably my fittest but i did W2W and managed to develop some sort of knee pain which struck me on Jan Smuts and Republic. So I managed a 3:17 with my friends having to wait for me a lot. I have ridden quite a bit this year. I have done some long rides in the beginning of the year. So who knows? I am going on straight 3 weeks with a headache so that might just affect me a bit. I am quite excited though
  11. Ag no. very different from last year then....
  12. I just happen to have my last year's number at the office. It was a cross between plastic and cloth. It had quite a lot of space underneath the number and the above the momentum logo (35x135mm kind of space)
  13. Yaaaaaaslike you are reaching deep into the past. That's like at least 7 years ago and I think back then we used to get the good stuff Like Aspen socks....I miss the socks...
  14. Would have loved to try it but I think the bar we get will be lumo pink, super hard but somehow chewy and with incredible magic power of sticking to your teeth. Oh and maybe as a bonus item the girls will get standing up pee devices again.....yaaaaaaay
  15. A bottle, a magazine, race info brochure are for sure. Then i'll guess inedible bar, mini bar one and a mini roll on. Perhaps sample sachets of anti chafing cream and arnica. Oh and a lip ice
  16. I like how there's a lot of "guys" being mentioned . There's a few girls as well you know..... Ok so the front will slow down and wait for the people that are slightly slower on the hills. What worries me more is the downhills. There are some seriously long downhills - there are 2 on Jan Smuts and then that horribly dangerous one in Bryanston. How would we tackle those? I never trusted my brakes 100% in previous 947s but since I'm riding disks now I should be a tad faster going down the hills. There will be loads of obstacles though
  17. Zaskar's name should be on there somewhere as well
  18. Not a good picture...... they might start all organised but they always end up like this http://myriadmagputer.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/asterix-obelix-3.jpg
  19. Wow if you were broken and did it in 39min wonder what happened to me that it took me almost an hour
  20. Same one. He murdered the Crater Cruise SS category as well....
  21. Like everyone else I am gonna try but as I said earlier it will depend on how the legs are feeling. They haven't been feeling great this past week and I didn't come close to my bike on the weekend so who knows....
  22. There's a chance that there could be some extra help from the 70km mark from people that will be finished by the time we get there. The question is how many of those people can be convinced to join us for the last 25km (and when I say us, I hope I'll still be there)
