  1. unless your driving makes you maintain an average 70% of your Age related max HR, you will only get 100 points. If it does, you're also driving like a poooes
  2. On this, I do not disagree at all. The savings on the life premiums are substantial if you're on the upper end of the spectrum. I just raised the point of the "discounts" on the devices as I was looking at getting my Fenix through those avenues myself. It turned out to be much of a muchness - 25% discount at Sportsmans was about the same as the Multiply Discounted Rate, and both were more expensive than I eventually got the Fenix for in the end... Case in point - Garmin Fenix Performer Bundle = R 9,899 - 40% (on pvt club) = R 5,939. Sportsmans price for same item = R 8,900. Subtract R 1,000 Vitality discount and it's R 7,900. Still R2k above the Momentum one, but you see what I'm saying. I paid R 5,800 for mine, but in the current market it'll be difficult to get one for that... Moral of the story is don't get sucked in by the "40% off" - in many cases, the RRP prices are inflated, so you need to look around to determine if the deal you're getting is a good one. Same as for camera equipment - the prices WITH discount are in many cases more or the same as you would pay at a dedicated, well stocked specialist camera place. I'm sure there are some good deals on there, but for me the primary benefit of Multiply are the Life Policy rebates, flight discounts and Smart Shopper multiplier. Gym benefit is also a good one, if you treat it properly...
  3. Because GPS activity by itself is useless... you could be driving in your car on the way to work. Avg speed 20kph if you're in traffic and boom. Hence the requirement for HR data. As for the momentum discounts - yeah, tried that route myself to see if it'd work. They're not the best prices and seem to be based on inflated RRP's si you can mostly get better prices elsewhere if you look hard enough. And through Vitality you can still get a discount on the fitness devices, just not a tiered discount...

  5. No, not a Discovery approved event - any event where the timing partners were racetec or another timing company and the results are verifiable.
  6. Cap isn't changing, just your required points will change to reflect change in points allocations if you're currently up there. Cap remains 1,200 per week though "Certain members will see their Vitality Active Rewards goals adjusted to provide them with adequate time to adapt to the new points-earning activities and device updates."
  7. That's one thing I don't get - why not step it more with the time durations? 30-45 = 100 46-60 = 200 61-75 = 300 76-90 = 450 91-120 = 600 121-150 = 750 151-180 = 900 180+ = 1200
  8. it's on their website's landing page, but I got the first info here. LOL. It's sad that when looking for updates for Vitality Active Rewards etc, I come here. You guys collectively have a lot more contact with the call centre and have more problems than I deal with atm. I also use this as a resource to find potential glitches!
  9. Apparently the current goal levels are going to be reduced for those who are on the upper reaches. What they'll be reduced to is not yet apparent. Probably case by case, and your new target may be 600 when it was 1200 or something
  10. or to fit in with their current points, 30-60 = 150 61-90 = 300 91-120 = 600 120-180=1200 180+ = 3000
  11. That's one thing I don't get - why not step it more with the time durations? 30-45 = 100 46-60 = 200 61-75 = 300 76-90 = 450 91-120 = 600 121-150 = 750 151-180 = 900 180+ = 1200
  12. ooooooh yes. Sorry. Stress-head. FFS. It really is supremely easy with an HRM. Unless, like Scott, you're running at 75% of a pretty low ma HR.
  13. do you hit more than 80% of your age based HR though? As What about pushing it for 35 min of the ride, stopping the watch and then doing a new one for the rest... Or something along those lines.
  14. TBH it's still very achievable. In my case - even if I were at the 1200 points per week requirement (which I'm not) 2 90 min rides per week @ 80% HR = 80% x (220-33) = 150bpm average. On my current loop, I'm averaging 166bpm. 600 points per... Easy. Even if I only ride for 30 min at 80% (their 80%) I'll get 300 points per. 4 rides / runs per week... Easy. With base training though, as in the other thread, it becomes more difficult. You need to go for 90 minutes plus before it starts getting okay.
