I have been to the Lawyers. They recon it has become the accepted norm to apportion blame. The only factor that is debatable is the % liability. In any case , they recon , it will never be lower than 10 % . AND to add to it , I can conciser myself lucky that I was not charged a % of the damage to said Pr#ck's car ( new Volvo )

In the greater scheme if things, it is not a fortune. However, the principle remains. My only and reliable means of transport is written off not withstanding the fact that I had zero responsibility. Why should I be out of pocket, inconvenienced ,sitting with a scrapped piece of metal, etc. ( Or were you thinking of donating a car or some money ? Ha ha )

At least you were "observant enough " . CIB Insurers would like that. If you were killed , not their problem. Then it is a third party claim from some government dept.

I was insured with Outsurance ( 3rd Party , fire , theft, never-ever ) Decided to not " use-up " no-claim bonus and handle the claim as Mr. Pr#ck admitted guilt in front of witnesses . WRONG DECISION. It is the insurance company of Mr.Pri#ck ( CIB , somehow linked to ABSA )that is making the offer in full and final settlement

I got them to adjust the values to a more acceptable base ( still not fair values ). They will not budge on the apportionment. Saw lawyers this morning. They will take it up , but their specialist say "apportionment " is the accepted norm.

This Pr#ck jumped the stop street. I collide with said Pr#ck. His insurer says I am 40 % guilty for " not being more observant " . Will only pay 60 % of my loss based on current values. Car total loss. Sitting with a piece of irreparable scrap and some pocket money. I am just letting off some steam with this post.

My insurance ( Santam ) does cover the towing . However , make sure that YOU phone the insurance company to get approval. It is known that the truck driver dials his " office " to get the go ahead i s o. the insurance company. Further , there are times that your car needs towing without being involved in an accident. In that case, you can also use the free service provided through the ( FNB? ) Petro card.

Okay. I will make that four in stead of three. The fourth being the Grim Reaper. Still , no charge.

Let me say upfront that I have no connection with FNB, other than using their Petro Card. Users should note that there are a number of FREE accident/towing/stranded options with this card that ACTUALLY work. Speaking from experience.
