Montagu Pass is closed for vehicles. The climb up on a bicycle (as per the Cross-Cape Route) is still fine, but going down is dangerous with the deep dongas cutting through the road. 7 Passes is only closed for vehicles between George and Wilderness, but there are still some locals bypassing the chicanes that drive through. Perfectly accessible for bikes.

I machined a 11 speed cassette successfully only to realize that the largest cog fouls with the hub where the spokes are attached. This was a Crankbrothers Cobalt Hub. So just make sure about all your clearances before machining takes place.
