Rick, thanks for giving me the officers number. It was my friend who was knocked down and I passed the info onto his wife, who did not know about the accident at that stage. Unfortunately my friend Craig did not make it - he died on the way to hospital. I feel extremely numb this evening.

Also look at the Raleigh Ridge. My son is 9 and was looking for the 24" bike, but then saw the Raleigh with a xs frame (14") and 26" wheels. Figured it will last him a lot longer, we can upgrade components alot easier and it was good value for money. Paid about R1850.00 new 6 months ago.

Damm! Just taken my bike to get new chain fitted and they told me I need to change cassette and 2nd chain ring as well. Gonna cost me about R1000.00. Cassette and chain ring looked fine to me. Chain was just a bit stretched and didnt have time to fit one myself before the weekend.

I really enjoy riding up the singletracks at Jonkers. However I am always on the lookout for the blokes coming down and give way as I am going slower and have enough time to get off the track. I tend to ride early mornings when the bike traffic is not too hectic. Use common sense - dont ride up single tracks at peak times.

I've been mtb'ing in the Eden/Paradyskloof area near Stellenbosch and have noticed a couple of scaly looking characters lurking around there, and have had to change route in a hurry. I have also heard of bikers been muuged in that area as well. Bottom line as Oliver says, you've got to be aware of your surroundings at all times.
