Hey Jody - just trying to help, i mean come one, retain R550 deposit to change a date on 2 occasions, who is being bullshitted here. I am all for fairness, but it must work both ways. BTW - i will be returning the Scott and i DEMAND a full refund cause i decided it does nothing for my image.

The instructor cancelled when the scholar received a call stating that he was not in a position to fulfill his obligations due to illness.

and yet the instructor was ill - this is why i am stipulating that the deposit should be returned.

My post clearly stipulates that a portion may be retained, however JB clearly being the only instructor available with no backup due to his illness is in no position to retain the full deposit for merely changing a few dates. I doubt very much that changing a name within a calendar supports withholding 100% deposit.

Perhaps you do not know how to enforce it....????? JB runs a service orientated business, and with any business there are risks involved, risks work both way, the changing of dates of a scholar regardless of the amount of times is irrelevant. The fact that he had no one else to fulfill his position on the mutally agreed day due to illness is not the scholars fault, and therefore i believe that the OP has every right to demand a full refund considering his busy schedule and the two parties cannot mutually agree on another set time period within the year.

Trying to stay diplomatic and correct here, there's no such thing as a no-refund deposit, not according to the Consumer Protection Act. That's not to say there aren't situations in which a service provider isn't entitled to withhold an entire deposit - if someone cancels a few days before the event, for example, but the point is they cant have a blanket policy of not refunding any portion of any deposit they receive, ever. No one plans a function and pays a deposit for a service with the intention of cancelling it, but these things happen, i would suggest that if your deposit invoice does not stipulate the exact terms and conditions pertaining to the withholding of deposits etc, then yes you can demand a full refund, regardless of time changes etc.

Hi Guys, i am sitting in between a rock and a hard place, our dogs had puppies last year, and we decided to keep one, a long haired beautiful female but the mother is constantly going for her and it is now at the point where she has become incredibly timid and its just not fair on her. She is 19 months old (will be 2 next year Feb), long haired, pure breed (both parents have papers) but i did not register the puppies as i am not a breeder. She weighs in at a healthy 30 odd kilograms, has had all vaccinations and is in incredibly good health. I love her, and it breaks my heart but i can not keep watching on as the mother hurts her. I am looking for someone who is willing to take her on and provide her with all the love and attention she currently gets (This is a dog that loves and i mean really loves to be touched and spoiled) She will require a large garden, as this is what she is currently accustomed to. She is accustomed to being indoors, however does sleep outside at night. She has grown up with little ones and i can assure you this will not be an issue. Considering she has grown up with father and mother its probably better to have another dog around? I must stress though that i have not brought up this dog to be an aggressive animal, if you are after a 24 hour security guard then rather pass on this offer she is lovable, requires attention + love and in return will provide you with years of companionship.
