  1. he wants them to contact him for some RESTO jobs, he does not have enough work to do
  2. They mentioned some combo deals, such as the H3 trainer + Platform+ mat + a few other items for around R34k. I rode on it myself. Rather interesting feeling to have the bike move. It will take a few rides to get use to it. But once you use to it, it will be next level.
  3. Conrad, you must make a Facebook Calendar event. We can then say if we interested, and that spreads very fast.
  4. Wayne, another option is also to maybe do: http://www.24hoursofoakvalley.co.za This will give you nice opportunity to ride Awesome trails and get you use to night riding . But yes , there are gravel roads around Paarl and Paarl mountain, out to Philadelphia way, Eensaamheid. Go race the cederberg100miler, why not do around the pot in swellendam. The are both 160km supported events

  6. Well, it was great till after check point 1. Just as we left the stadium, the road was dark, and the next moment had stones thrown in our direction, because it was so dark, you cannot see where it was coming from. I got a stone against the helmet, and arm. From what i heard there were others who got off worse. 25km after CP1, the lovely soup decided to turn on me... well it turned in a bad way.... Had contemplated giving up, no power, no energy, dehydrated. Then the angel arrived... One of the on route medics...sat with me, sorted out the hydration, got some re hydrate and about 30min, later good to go. He followed me up to the next water point. Had something small to eat and off i went. Met up with James/Johan/Collin and rode the rest of the way with the 3 of them. The showers at CP2 were amazing... nothing like some fresh kit. Food was good. After the lovely Rooiberg Pass climb/walk it was not plain sailing... the temp started to climb Gamrin registered around 39deg. We hit CP3 with 34deg. delayed the departed for cooler weather. At this point we made the call to just finish... no more chasing times. We left CP3 in good spirits.... some amazing karoo views/sunsets. Those last rolling hills were no joke! it just never ends...(never believe the route profile) At the last water point, they served Roosterkoek with Boerewors! That just made the climbing worth it. We powered home and entered Kleinplaas @ 21:30 27:30hrs later. We made it From nearly pulling out at 85km to finishing was such a great feeling!!
  7. Hi, to my knowledge all the main check points are accessible. But why risk it, what happens if they cant make it? You never know what happens during the race. Make use of the boxes, just as a backup measure.
  8. Last time when we did it, we did not plan to go into the 2nd night, and also the box setup was different, box 1 was sent to CP1 & 3. So we dropped all our warm kit in box 2 at CP2, we ran into some difficulty, and ended up going into night 2 with no warm kit. Was a big mistake... So make sure you keep some warm kit you! and also have spare batteries with you.

  11. There is an awesome place, red roof diner. By safari and out door. They have R20 cappachino, and do cyclists breakfast, full breakfast and coffee for R50. They open around 7 if I recall correct. Stopped there half way though our ride on Saturday. It’s not that far off route. https://www.facebook.com/redroofstellies/ They are where the steers used to be. And it’s just off orange loop.

  18. Wessel, how does it work that your early bird entries close on the day of the event? 24 May 2014? Is it correct the event date is 24 May 2014? cause it was a date in june last year if I am correct, 15 June 2013. Regards Leon
  19. Yes it is manageable for back markers.... I am by no means a racing snake, we were last, in a time of 29hrs. As long you can make peace with the fact that your are going to be spending long time in the saddle. YOU CAN DO IT. SLOW AND STEADY .... pace yourself and you will finish.
  20. Well, this was a great test of character. Myself , Clinton and Kim were the last finishers 29hrs 25min What an awesome experience. From the start it felt like a outride. Big ups to the marshals and the medical staff. We took our time to get in, slow and steady , and we finished. The great thing here was at no point did we feel forced or pressured to give up. The sweep vehicle followed us for 40km, and kept the distance. Hard luck to all that did not finish. Thanks to all the sponsors, even for the box of Craft beer and Fairview wines.... was not expected. I suspect with that kind of prize for last finisher, the competition will be stronger to be the last one to finish. :-) Thanks to all involved.
