  1. Breezy, brooding morning ride in the Bay. Cape Recife, Port Elizabeth
  2. Isetech, I see yours, and raise you mine ???? Properly comfy... and pretty good looking too!
  3. Was looking at the colour combo & graphics of the upcoming Jelly Bean socks and Space Invaders came to mind... Would make a pretty cool sock, methinks ????
  4. Finally got my hands on one of these today. Design is simple, understated & quite appealing. Did a short loop after work - instantly comfy & the flex in the base definitely helps on our lumpy SA roads.
  5. Little bit of illness-induced internet spending... Frame & tyre colour combo is an acquired taste, but keen to see if the Vittorias are as supple as they are said to be. ... and yes, that steerer tube needs to be trimmed a.s.a.p!
  6. Been trying to get my hands on a pair of those since they were released. Really impressive shoes. Where did you manage to find these gems?
  7. Always wonder why the photographers have to be IN the road & THAT close to the finish line... Happens in so many of the professional races. Crossing the line at upwards of 50kph doesn't give the riders much time to slow down. Still... that victory salute must hurt. Hope the hard collar etc was more of a precaution than an indicator of anything serious.
  8. Out and about in the Cango Caves country...
  9. A quick update re. the sizing: Picked up a pair each of the Race and Trail versions today. They look really classy & certainly feel like a premium item. The Race version fits my size 7 feet pretty well. Strangely though, the Trail version is considerably larger, resulting in some bunching up in the toe region with shoes on. Reckon this must be down to the additional padding in the foot. Kudos to the Versus guys! Best of luck for the CTCT Expo - see you there!
  10. My thoughts exactly - with the 7-11 size either the heel or toe areas tend to bunch up. Not particularly comfy when riding. I reckon you're spot on with those sizing suggestions
  11. Any guys with smaller feet care to give any impressions about the sizing? I'm a size 7 and often find that socks marked as sizes 7-11 are in actual fact a bit loose/too long in the foot. Been watching this thread with interest. The designs look awesome!
  12. If you're still looking for a Reacto 5000 perhaps give the folks at Wayne Pheiffer Cycles in Port Elizabeth a shout. Popped in earlier today and they had a few on their stands... might have your size. Best of luck with the search ????
  13. Any news on the choice yet, Wayne? Been toying with the same idea lately - Ride vs Scultura vs Reacto. The higher end Ride models are the nicest looking & best package IMHO (Just look at it!). Important to note that different frame geometry is used for the Ride 5000 and above - shorter head tubes etc - for a more race oriented position... BUT after enquiring from the folks at Merida SA, I discovered that the best we'll get is the Ride 3000. Really a pity. Reacto is very much the aero racer, so unless it's out & out speed one is after, the Scultura seems like the sweet spot in the range available in SA
  14. awesome awesome awesome! well done Ashleigh!
