  1. Anyone in the Claremont area that has a Polar Datalink USB dongle I could quickly borrow sometime before Tuesday to sync my data from my RCX5? Lost mine this week and can only get a new one in two weeks.
  2. I always carry what I need and only stop to top up water if needed. But last year I tasted that droewors when topping up my water, so this year I stopped for some more, even though I didn't need water.
  3. The droewors at the one water table on the 60km was awesome! #VreetStation
  4. Think they did for Team Vitality with 1 post wonder "Vitality Dan"
  5. The new high performance/endurance option is a winner in my opinion. Given that my actual heart rate max is much lower than the age based, along with how I train, it will almost be easier to get to the 1200 than it would the normal 900 without having to change my training habits
  6. This just game me a great idea! Use polar beat app on my phone (linked to Polar Flow) and my watch (old one linked to Polar personal trainer) at the same time, only starting Beat for the higher intensity part of my workout. Link both Flow and PPT to Discovery and voila! Thanks
  7. My ride from Saturday hasn't come through either (sync'd yesterday via Polar personal trainer). Target has also gone up 100 points a week for the last two weeks despite not achieving my goals due to the flu. I just don't understand the logic!!!
  8. Maybe, but I feel no guilt. I am in the group of unlucky users whose actual max heart rate is much lower than the 220-age calc, making it harder to achieve the goals. I hit my goals each week so in my opinion anyone can. If you are doing it for the smoothie, work the system and train at a higher intensity for a shorter time so that your average HR is higher for each session. But if you are training for the right reasons, then carry on as you would otherwise. At the end of the day you are getting something for nothing with the smoothies
  9. Do you think it's a sign that you are redeeming too many free smoothies at Kauai when the cashier waves at you when just walking past?
  10. Must be honest I didn't even see a marshal. Didn't seem to make sense that B was such a small batch and then have C and D put together making it a huge group. But it looks like they used the D batch start time for C and D which would have added 5 minutes to C batch riders?
  11. Yip. My time is off by 5 minutes (longer in the results than on my Polar). Was odd that they didn't have someone checking us into the batch pen. C and D seemed to start together too. is that normal?
  12. Polar RCX5 transmits HR in water. if swimming outdoors, put the GPS pod in your swimming cap to measure distance, it works.
  13. ....... If getting a smoothie is more important than tracking your actual training
  14. True. I think the peak performance test is a lot more valuable then the ridiculous "step on and off a box for a minute" test that they do endorse!
  15. But there is a test? One of the outputs of a peak performance test is your max HR. I guess you could game this too, but surely you have to give people the benefit of the doubt?
  16. This would be great! But more logistical admin for them. I can understand that they are using a system that would "generally" suit the average Joe. Hopefully with time the system will become more refined and accurate. Perhaps someone from Discovery should be following this thread so they can see all the suggestions for improvement/refinement. It would also be cool if you could "earn" a peak performance test through say 3 months of hitting your weekly target. Those tests aren't cheap! Would also encourage people to understand their body and not constantly apply the one size fits all generalizations that they read on the internet.
  17. i don't really have a problem with the new points system, BUT the fact that they use the age based calculation of max hear rate really screws me over. my actual max per my peak performance test is 13bpm lower than my age based
  18. Not a waste because you have to complete the fitness assessment to increase your Sportsmans Warehouse cash back to 25%, otherwise you only get 10% as far as i know?
  19. I achieved my goal but didn't get an sms. guess it's just another one of their teething issues
  20. I got an email the week before christmas saying that if you achieve your goal in the week 19-25 December you would get a free ice-cream (or you could make a donation of some sort) in addition to the normal smoothie active reward. Did anyone actually get their free ice-cream?
  21. Ballsy!!!! Would love to see his heart rate as he rides. Reckon it goes up a tad when he is on a ledge where, to the one side, could potentially fall to his death.
  22. If you use a flash drive doesn't it save a file with your profile/settings so if you use another bike you just plug in the flash drive and it reads that file and applies the settings to that bike? The flash will also save your training session when you are done.
