  1. Crazy story! Very close to home and makes you realise how easily this can happen. Worth a listen: https://www.bikeruntri.co.za/post/alan-broderick-s-tale-of-survival
  2. Cape Town Cycle lane commuter bike.... (funny, not funny😔)
  3. If the MO was to pepper spray the victim, thats the third one in as many weeks. This probably explains the SANPARKS bakkie speeding down Signal hill road at about 6:35am... too little too late sanparks! The consistency of both this and the Constantia taxi muggings makes it really frustrating that these guys can't be "taken care of".😔
  4. This bull**** about shift changes really gets to me! It's an easy solve... stagger the shift changes so that criminals don't have a nice window of opportunity! Shift change is not an acceptable excuse for a service not being delivered. Rant over.
  5. There are camera's at the entrance to Uitsig, surely the Bike Park could assist with getting footage from security to potentially identify the Taxi in question?
  6. That puffy definitely lost a game of chicken with a car! Was a big guy for sure, but the size of your leg? You've been skippin' leg day boet😝 Went past it at around 7h30 with my girlfriend who is still quite nervous on the bike and has a massive snake phobia. Obviously it was right at the point where we decided to pass a group of other riders... chaos!
  7. Looking forward to going back for the duathlon next weekend!🙂
  8. Ah... by "through" Woodstock I assumed the bike lane on Albert Road, hence my confusion. The bike lane adjacent to the bus lane didn't even cross my mind because it's completely redundant in my mind and assumed everyone else's mind too.
  9. How does this happen??? 10am on a Sunday there are cars and people everywhere!
  10. Use the Komoot app
  11. Banhoek, Plesir de Merle and Avondale (haven't ridden this one myself) if you are looking for flow trail vibes.
  12. Hahaha... if you want to interpret it that way, yes! Oh wait, you beat me so you can't😂 Case of mistaken identity, not me that you finished behind🕵️‍♂️
  13. Don't want to derail this thread and begin a debate on what is technical and what isn't, but I disagree with your take... and I'm in the camp of the more technical the better! Anything becomes technical if you go fast enough, but there are sections (albeit not too long) at Eselfontein that are fairly technical for the average mountain biker. For example think about that section on day 3 around about the 20km mark before you start descending, it's quite rocky and tricky regardless of speed and is a little bit like trials riding. Of course you can get off and walk it, but staying on the bike is a technical challenge.
  14. Well you made it to your desk this morning, so I'd argue that it's the perfect amount of technical.... if you were lying in a hospital bed, then maybe you'd have a case😂 I think the setup is perfect... free camping (gives you the choice of a good nights sleep in offsite accommodation, my preference), well priced food options in the race village allowing you to eat what/when you like (yes I had the ribs on all three days🤤) rather than the trough feeding times at other races. An all round good vibe. P.S. The droewors at the water table alone makes this race worth doing🙃
  15. Don't understand why this event isn't more popular/sold out, it's great value relative to any other stage race and an all-round great weekend. I'm starting to think that the trails being a bit technical could be the reason... but that doesn't make sense🤔
  16. ... or a full face helmet🤷‍♂️
  17. Mentioned already but Real Science of Sport is a great listen. The Whiskey Throttle Show, long form interviews with some big names in motocross and their journey in the sport makes for interesting listening.
  18. Yes the results format is a bit odd. Re: your ebike comment... I don't feel like being on an ebike is that much of an advantage, not much pedalling going down those stages. It's definitely an advantage, but not enough to offset the lack of talent. Maybe I'm biased 'cos I was on one though?

  20. Rolling the windows up! Coming over that jump the landing is long, but feels a long way down.
  21. So you think they intentionally set out to put on a terrible event to screw you? Get over yourself. I was at that event and it was very unfortunate, but they made up for it by offering free entry to the next one. I have done most of the WC Trailseeker events and barring the one exception they have always been top notch.
  22. If there is no damage to the paint, a paintless dent removal guy can take out dents for R350 per body panel (not per dent). He does a great job.
  23. Is there a GPX file available for the stages?
  24. Get some self adhesive foam and stick it on the levers. Can either do a strip or wrap them around. A much thinner version of this stuff: https://www.takealot.com/motoquip-foam-self-adhesive-sealing-strip/PLID40661052 Hardware store should have, but I know for a fact that Rubber Products and Mouldings in Voortrekker Road have a variety of widths and thickness. They'll be a makeshift version of these: https://www.racing-planet.com/brake-lever-foam-rubber-grips-voca-racing-red-p-393591-1.html?sessID=154f312a7a159f4b30823d5e5e77ca35#lg=1&slide=0
