  1. Sure... lets be accommodating. What if the horse had gotten seriously spooked and taken off into the bushes throwing the rider off with the potential of a very serious accident. I am always friendly to the people I meet on the trails, and always offer a smile and a friendly word. I'm not going to be friendly though to someone who is reckless !! Would you be friendly to someone who had just nearly run you over in their car as you were crossing the road at a Zebra crossing or traffic light when it's green for walking ? ... "no worries mate, I was in the wrong walking across the road" JohnnyReggae2009-01-23 01:34:40
  2. I don't mind the horses going around Tokai, but have an issue when you take the horse down a narrow single track where you know there are bound to be MTB riders on... it's just reckless . I also have an issue with the horses seriously damaging the single track. The single tracks in Tokai took a serious beating during winter and the horses had quite an impact in that as well. Some of the trails have only just been repaired, and they are already in a state. They have gone from mud to hard pack to soft powder.
  3. Didn't get to say anything to them, which I supposed annoyed me even more. I was to busy keeping an eye on the horses as they were very skittish, and didn't feel like being trampled by a horse. Been around enough horses to know the damage they can inflict when they suddenly bolt. Then got even more annoyed with the "sweet" voice of one of the the woman "Oh .. look there's a unicycle" ... ffs !!
  4. Went out to Tokai for a short ride yesterday. Was riding up The Faerie Garden, heard 2 woman talking heading down (the trail snakes quite a bit with thick bush, so you can hear people but not see them) they seemed to be walking as I didn't hear the normal bike noises so carried on riding, come round an uphill bend.... suddenly there are 2 horses !!! To make matters worse the horses seemed very skittish, and if I hadn't dismounted off my MUni I'm sure they both would have taken off in any direction at speed. Even just standing with my MUni the horses were not very sure what to do and both woman struggled to control their horses. So my rant is.... WTF ... are you doing taking a horse down a very narrow winding single track where you can't see what is on the trail for the next 5 meters when your horse is very skittish ..... for starters... what would have happened if I had been on an MTB going a lot faster !!!! Then .... WhyTF ... are you taking a horse down a single track ...F$*@#^&ing up the single track !!! During the rainy season last year I noticed so much trail damage done by horses on the single tracks, and it annoys the living cr@p out of me. Tokai forest has specific roads that MTB'ers are not allowed on that horses are, and there are additional trails in the lower forest specifically for horses !!!! gggrrrrr

  13. I'm looking for a seriously EPIC trail to ride. Some prerequisites.... 1. All single track 2. Very technical 3. Remote 4. No jeep tracks, or tar roads 5. If there is any historical related reasons for the trail it would be a bonus. 6. Can be in neighbouring countries As it will be a Mountain Unicycle trip the distance is not important (as it would be for MTB), and would look to do about 60-100km's tops over about 4 days. The idea for the trip is to look at doing something remote and very challenging. We (AmaOneTya) are going to be entering a proposal for the Kris Holm, Evolution of Balance Award. The EOB Award is entering it's second year and is an award given to a team proposing a difficult, creative, remote Mountain Unicycling adventure. Last year we propsed a trip to Lesotho, doing about 60km's over 3 days in the heart of the Lesotho mountains staying over in Basutho huts along the way. This year Lesotho is still an option, however it would need to be more of a self-assisted trip. We unfortunately did not win the award, which was won by a team from the USA who proposed a trip to Panama to travel the ancient "Gold Routes". Team Rollercoaster from the USA have just finished their EPIC trip. Although the award does not cover much of the expenses we would look at it as an amazing opportunity to do an EPIC adventure. Anyone with info on trails, or where I can get info on remote/challenging trails ?

  18. hahahah' date=' dont think so. Those are bionic legs attached to said unicycle. [/quote'] If only they were bionic. They wouldn't be aching after the last 3 days of riding in the forest.....
