  1. My Dying Bride - Shadowhaunt
  2. On the weekend a small group of Unicyclist met up in Tokai Forest for a ride. I was unfortunately not there, was attending a wedding in Franschhoek. Group: (from left) Ethan, Jane, Justin, Arne, Linda Jane ripping it down My Roots... Arne balancing on post...
  3. Unicycle Gliding is an advanced skill and is the unicycling version of free-wheeling and basically entails taking your feet off the pedals and allowing gravity to propel you. Arne Tilgen who is an excellent unicycle rider from Germany who is currently in the country did some Power Gliding over the weekend on the very quiet road past the Cable Way on the side on Table Mountain. He posted some stuff to his blog about it. The link is a translated version (originally in German) so the text may not make complete sense. Some photos from the ride:
  4. Portishead - We Carry On
  5. No' date=' not everybody, just re-read my post, A SMALL BUNCH.!! Your negative attitude dos less, if a few cyclists stop at lights here and a few stop there, sooner or later, a few more will do the same, and so on and so on. To me, that means slowly, the message is getting through. Do you think the "big bucks" attitude will work better, I dont, change is slow and it begins with YOU and I. You can have the best most expensive education programme the world can buy, BUT if nobody listens or acts ...................Well, THAT means SQUAT.!! How do you think we got into this situation?? by been responsible and following the rules??? No Sir...............it was by a few ignoring the rules, then a few more, then a few more, then a few more................!! Now we need to reverse it, one step at a time.! [/quote']Well said !! In my opinion it takes baby steps over time to accomplish something, and the more people are educated by example the longer lasting the effects will be. If anyone is aware of the 100th Monkey Effect ... it was a theory put forward about how monkeys learnt to wash sweet potatoes through watching other monkeys, and when a particular critical mass was achieved, the 100th monkey, other monkeys in different parts of the world suddenly started doing the same thing. The effect has since been proved as a myth, however the concept is still valid in my view. Teaching someone through example can achieve much more than simply telling someone to do something.
  6. Occasionally I manage to beat myself on something, usually a rock or branch, but the occasions are getting fewer It's not as bad as it looks..... although the 2 youngsters that saw me bail probably thought that it was pretty hardcore... Nearly suffocated myself with the cloud of dust I managed to create during the bail. Next time I come riding past, give me a shout.... I'm usually not focusing to much by the time I get back to the parking lot as I'm quite knackered at that stage. Must say a *HUGE* thanks to Alex, mountain biker in the parking lot, who offered me an ice cold Windhoek. That really hit the spot after the ride
  7. Yup, that was me. Had a great ride down Mamba, Boomslang, Vasbyt, Downhill 4, and My Roots. Took a head-over-heels bail down Mamba though Have read your original post a couple of times now. Really well said !!
  8. The dude's name is Arne Tilgen. He and a friend Linda rode from Cape Town to Durban on bicycles. Their front forks were modified to take their Unicycle wheels so they could remove the front wheel and assemble their unicycles to ride around on. Arne has a blog up, translated version here.

  14. Kataklysm - Breath To Dominate
  15. Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
  16. Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance (CD) Great Doom Metal / Depressive Rock from Sweden. These guys know how to layer sounds and feelings into music. Guitar harmonies are excellent.

  20. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Babe, I'm On Fire An epic rocking 15 minutes song !!!
  21. Neon Synthesis - Visions From Above New on the playlist... Industrial Rock from Neon Synthesis. Certainly interesting with some house type synth intros, and a vocal style similar to The 69 Eyes and Deathstars. Gotta love old school Goth vocals Guitar work is fairly decent Goth Rock, and I quite like the synth breaks.
